While Spring Lake, MI is a springboard to Lake Michigan activities and the Holiday Inn probably gets little hotel activity in the fall and winter months, the condition of this hotel is atrocious. They are doing a complete renovation of this severely depressed property and it can't come a moment too soon. Our room had decaying wallpaper, a hopelessly uncomfortable bed and the construction crew began working well before dawn. It was musty and cramped and to top it all off, on one night of our 3 night stay, the fire alarm went off for no reason at 12:45a.m. Other guests (mostly construction crew) on our floor never even left their rooms as this is apparently a common occurrence. I would never stay at this hotel again. It is dusty, dirty and filthy.

Many thanks to Guest Services Manager Nathan Sucheki and the Holiday Inn Spring Lake. They accommodated our group of high school Water Polo players with ease. Everyone had a comfortable night's sleep and an enjoyable stay. Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat at the restaurant...but we will definitely be back another time.

Nathan answered all of our questions almost instantly when I was negotiating the group rate. He truly is committed to customer service.

I would highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in Grand Haven. We were there 2 nights over labor day weekend. Although the hallways and rooms were a dated, there are signs in the lobby area stating a major renovation is planned for the fall of 2010. I'd like to go back after the renovations are done. Staff was very friendly and it was nice that they allowed dogs to stay for only $10 extra a night. They put all people with dogs on the first floor and there were a lot of travelers with dogs that we saw. It was a bummer that the weather was chilly while we were there because I would have loved to use the outdoor pool and the tiki bar looked awesome. We went to Jack's bar (the onsite bar/lounge) our first night there and was packed since they had a live band. Didn't try out the restaurant or room service, but it's also offered. Location is great because it's just such a short drive to downtown Grand Haven and the beaches. There is also a marina behind the hotel and a boardwalk that went along the river, so it was fun to walk that with our dog. I have nothing bad to say about this place other than it being a bit out dated, but apparently they are working on changing that.

While the room was clean and pretty quiet, there was no hot water the last day and they would not reduce my bill. $350 for 2 nights is too much for this place!! The day I got home feeling really sick-went to the Dr. and I have two infections from the hot tub. Seemed unsanitary-I should have never went in!!! Also, the wireless signal was so weak I couldn't use my computer.

My wife and I stayed one night in the Holiday Inn and let me tell you, this place needs to be Renovated very badly! First let me start by saying something positive the staff is really nice, very personable and informed us that a renovation is due in OCT 2010. If you plan on staying there before then be prepared for damp feeling carpeting, wall paper that looks like a 5 grader installed it, a very loud air conditioner, bath room tubs that need re-calking, a bed that doesn't give any support and make sure your don't stay in a room close to the elevator as they are right across from the ice machine (it's loud when someone is getting ice.) Maybe once the renovation is complete it will be a better hotel but at 200.00 per night it better be done right of I'll never stay there again.

I was a bit worried after reading some bad reviews, but we loved it! The hotel was nice and clean, simple. They said they are going to be updating the carpets and other things. The outdoor pool was great, nice chairs, and right next to the tiki bar. The restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating, with a good menu. We even saw some live music there.
The hotel is 5 minutes from the beach/downtown area, we would go again!

The room was clean with nice bedding. The sink was broken and slow to drain. The shampoo was already used and a little was left. The hallways could use some sort of decoration--it was pretty boring. The restaurant was good and had a nice view of the river.
