“Good option to consider around Southfield”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2014 via mobile

Nice hotel, with friendly staff

Rooms were clean aswell as bathroom

Food is ok, burgers and salmon are decent for a couple of days but many options available outside

Internet wifi is free, speed enough for sametime video conversation

Pricy, above average but better vs Westin

I have stayed at this hotel about 10 times a year for the last 10 years. The location is convenient to I-696, Hwy 10, Hwy 39, and Telegraph Rd. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant and in the concierge room is pretty standard, but good. I always try to stay on the sixth floor, with the concierge room, or the first floor if the sixth floor isn't available. I do this to try to avoid the elevators. They are really slow at this location.

Room Tip: If you can't get on the sixth floor, try first, then second. The second floor doesn't requi...

I stayed one night on a business trip. So I had one king bed room to myself. The room was comfortable in every way, no complaints what-so-ever. They have an indoor heated pool and a hot tub. They also had a fitness center with three treadmills, two ellipticals, at least one stationary bike. Each machine is equipped with it's own TV set. There were also some free weights, medicine balls, a water cooler, fruit and towels. Breakfast was apparently included in my room, maybe not the case for every guest. I think the price would have been $13. The breakfast included a hot bar with scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage patties and sausage links. There was also a cold bar with fruit, yogurt and some muffins. There was also a breakfast menu that I did not get a chance to look at.

Room was clean and in order but like one reviewer had mentioned the location of the TV being on the wall off to the side of the bed is not good placement. If there were two people in the room with one at the work desk and one in bed - both could not watch the TV. (Plus if you were in bed you would have to lay on your side)

There were two other issues I had - got me room key card and it would not work. Went down to the front desk and she discovered she had given me the wrong room number. Had requested a wake up call but never got it. Probably gave the call to the incorrect room number. However another person in my group did not get one either so who really knows?

Check in was really great as there were 5 others had arrived just before us and we really didn't have to wait long. Not a place I would pick if not on business. A continental breakfast which would be free in most hotels cost $10 here. The service there was subpar by the way) No other restaurants nearby so not much choice. Bottom line - I think there was going strictly for the business travelers.

I stayed here for two nights for work. The room was clean and the bed was comfy (I like a soft bed). Check-in was fast… services were good. Ate in the restaurant one evening and for hotel food it wasn't bad. The staff was extremely friendly. I would stay here again and recommend it to people in the area.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and it was fine. My room was clean and the service and staff good. The only complaint I had was that the TV in the King room was off to the side of the bed but not a major problem.

I stayed at this property twice in the past 6 months. In both case, I find myself in a room with a bad bed. The beds are way too soft... so much that they even will make you slide to the floor when sitting on their sides. I told them both times and got a "sorry for that sir".

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I apologize that you have not had a comfortable sleep during you last couple visits. Our beds are in the process of being replaced and I would be happy to accommodate your need for a firmer mattress during your next visit. We hope you will stay with the Marriott Southfield on your next visit to the area
