“One of the best in Greater Detroit”

Tokyo Buffet Lounge

As oriental buffets go, Tokyo Buffet is phenomenal! Lots of parking space, huge eating area, tremendous selection. Dinners are a bit more expensive than lunches, but offer some more choices and the price is still a bargain. The foods include Japanese fare such as many kinds of sushi and tempura, then seafood propositions with (among others) crayfish and oysters, as well as typical Chinese dishes – dim sum, soups, hot noodles and rice, stewed or fried meats, fish, shellfish and vegetables, etc…. too many to name. Also offered are American items of the salad-bar type, as well as Mongolian BBQ (customer-selected raw ingredients that are subsequently grilled on a hot plate). Everything is very fresh, appetizing and tasty. Well-stocked bar can be found there, too. In addition to the above, Tokyo Buffet has a decent dessert section, not always featured in an Asian restaurant, with fresh and canned fruit, sweet puddings, pastries and ice-cream. If you want to have a good, sumptuous and inexpensive meal in the Greater Detroit area, this is the place! Lots of pleasure for not too much money.

We can enjoy Chinese and Japanese food in Tokyo buffet.
Kimbab is good as well.
The atmosphere is above average and the restaurant is spacious.

I visit this buffet once a month to enjoy sushi and fruits. Price is reasonable.

At dinner time, we can also enjoy crab.

Food is ok there. However watch your belongings in this place. I left my sunglasses there when we left. 2!!!!! Minutes later we walked back in there and they were gone. The employees are thieves and the manager did not care either. We will never go back there. You should chose a different place for dinner where you don't get robbed.

We have tried Chinese buffets all across the USA and Canada, and this one ranks in the top 10!

Large fresh selection of sushi; freshly-prepared Chinese dishes (pepper steak, honey chicken, garlic eggplant pork, general tso chicken, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, sautéed mushrooms, and 3-4 vegetarian dishes); Mongolian bar-be-que (i.e. chose your own ingredients); surprisingly broad selection of dim sum options; deep fried options (crab Rangoon, sesame rolls, spring rolls, several other types); several seafood options (including octopus, several shrimp dishes, grouper and others); limited North American food (pizza, garlic bread, fried chicken wings, salads), and standard Chinese buffet desserts (including fruit, cookies, and several flavors of hard-scoop ice cream).

Lunch is currently $10.95 and worth it. (less 15% coupon available online from ValPack). Atmosphere is above average, despite location at Southfield movie theater complex. Quiet and spacious, with a wide variety of tables (including spacious booths, traditional round tables, square tables). Clientele today was more than 50% Asian. We did not see anyone drift in from the theatre -- like us, everyone appears to make the trip specifically for this restaurant. Service above average (courteous and prompt). Liquor license. Wheelchair accessible, including buffet area.

High marks to: sushi, crab rangoons (lots of tasty cream cheese inside), string beans (still slightly crunchy like they are supposed to be); coconut shrimp; chicken broccoli (fresh and tasty); teriyaki barbeque skewers.

Soups and desserts are nothing special.

I asked and was told that evening Buffet is $17.95 some nights and $19.95 on nights when they have lobster.

Will visit again and would recommend. This would be a nice location to sit and chat with friend for an extended lunch or dinner.
