The overall condition of the hotel was good. Our room was clean and comfy and the breakfast items were fresh and served in a nice clean environment, which was important to us. The location of this hotel is great, just a short distance from the downtown area. The rates were very reasonable and we would definitely stay here again.

We needed a place to stay along the lake for one night, and from reviews chose this Hampton Inn (it had about the best reviews of places to stay under $150). It was adequate. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the internet worked well, and it was quiet. It is less than two miles from the hotel to the beach and less to town. However, I found the room to be dated. The pool area was empty....once I entered it was obviously because it was so hot and humid in there. The breakfast left much to be desired, but I am never impressed with US hotel breakfasts. I don't understand why at the height of blueberry and peach season in blueberry country, they serve canned fruit! There were very few whole grain choices and lots of sugar cereal and frosted donuts! But, this is no worse than other similar hotels.
If you want an overnight (maybe two) near South Haven and don't want to pay that much, I would recommend it. I would certainly not use it as a base for an extended stay.

The hotel staff was very curteous and helpful. The rooms are very clean. Complimentary breakfast had a variety of choices for everyone. A very easy drive to the beach. Book early if you are planning a summer vacation. They were completely booked up for our weekend in July.

My family recently stayed at the Hampton Inn for our vacation in South Haven. We were only going to be in town for 5 days and many of the condos/cottage rentals had one week minimum stays so we decided to stay at the Hampton. It worked out very well. The room was nice, the beds very comfortable, free internet. It was very convenient to go down for breakfast each morning. Although the food was pretty mediocre, the hostess at breakfast was wonderful and very cheery! I would have liked to have been able to walk into town but it was a very quick easy drive to the town and beach from the hotel. Best part about the Hampton--it is across the street from Sherman's Ice Cream--Yum!

My husband and me drove up for a Memorial weekend getaway and had an unfortunate Friday trying to find a place to stay and ending up in an overpriced old resort. Woke up and arrived early not expecting to be given our room. We were greeted kindly, told we could store our bikes if needed and then we were told our room was actually ready. The service here is very good and for the price and location there is no better place to stay in this area.
