The hotel staff was very curteous and helpful. The rooms are very clean. Complimentary breakfast had a variety of choices for everyone. A very easy drive to the beach. Book early if you are planning a summer vacation. They were completely booked up for our weekend in July.

My family recently stayed at the Hampton Inn for our vacation in South Haven. We were only going to be in town for 5 days and many of the condos/cottage rentals had one week minimum stays so we decided to stay at the Hampton. It worked out very well. The room was nice, the beds very comfortable, free internet. It was very convenient to go down for breakfast each morning. Although the food was pretty mediocre, the hostess at breakfast was wonderful and very cheery! I would have liked to have been able to walk into town but it was a very quick easy drive to the town and beach from the hotel. Best part about the Hampton--it is across the street from Sherman's Ice Cream--Yum!

My husband and me drove up for a Memorial weekend getaway and had an unfortunate Friday trying to find a place to stay and ending up in an overpriced old resort. Woke up and arrived early not expecting to be given our room. We were greeted kindly, told we could store our bikes if needed and then we were told our room was actually ready. The service here is very good and for the price and location there is no better place to stay in this area.

.We stayed here for one night on a trip to the lake shore and really liked the hotel. It’s very clean, the rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. The property is very well kept up and nothing looks worn or faded. The pool and exercise area was very nice too. Hampton Inns are not luxury properties (breakfast is served on styrofoam plates with plastic cutlery), but when they are as well run and in good condition as this one they offer good value for money.

Stayed for a Fri and Sat night in Feb. Hotel was not busy. Check in and check out was uneventful. Booked a double room which were full-size beds. No complaints about cleanliness of room or bathroom. Everything was in working order. Beds were comfortable. Our room faced Wendys and it was quiet at night. Hotel is just off interstate. It is less than a 5 minute drive to downtown South Haven. Room was on 2nd floor. If you need to use a microwave, you have to go to the breakfast area and use the one there. There are no mini fridges in standard rooms only in the suites - if you need one in your room you need to ask at the front desk which they offer for free. They did have a coffee make in the room, however.

Breakfast was good. The hotel is remodeling their breakfast area for the busy summer season so not sure if offerings were less due to space - it didn't seem like it. Hot item changed daily - Sat morning offered real sausage patties and french-toast sticks and Sunday morning was a cheesy-scramble egg with chopped ham, if I remember correctly. Cut up fresh fruit bowl was my favorite. Typical continental items also offered.

Pool was awesome Fri and Sat. Hot tub was working well. We took advantage of it both days. However, Sunday morning maintenance man treated it and there was just too much chlorine. One father's toddler vomited in the hot-tub area - he told me there was a strong chlorine presence as he saw we were going for a Sunday morning swim before heading home. I had a cold so couldn't really smell it but just walking around on the deck was burning my eyes. Maintenance man opened one window for fresh air and we eventually left after 10-15mins swimming cause my 2 young kids and myself were relentlessy coughing. Maintenance man was trying to resolve the problem in the hot tub - not sure if that was the location of all the chlorine.

Likes: Everyone was friendly, HOT TUB in pool area, good break fast, close to downtown South Haven

Dislikes: No recirculating fan on in-room thermostat, no mini fridges and no microwave in standard room, ice-machine was broken on the 2nd floor, in-room movies run $15.
