Upon arrival, didn't seem so bad. Check-in was easy. It went downhill from there. The carpets were dirty in the halls and our room. The elevator had no air circulation, made terrible noises and the doors acted like they didn't want to open. The shower in our room had hairs stuck all over it, the bottom of the tub was black and there was dried urine around the toilet. Dirty towels from the previous guest hanging on the back of the bathroom door. NBed mattress seemed newer but furniture and bedding were worn. We didn't have a microwave and when I told the front desk about it, their response was that some rooms have them, some don't. Room smelled like mildew. We had to air our suitcases out and had to not only wash our dirty clothes, but the clean ones too when we got home, to get rid of the smell from the room. Pool was freezing. Chlorine smell was so strong it burned your eyes without getting near the water. Went to sit in the outside pool area and found a broken table turned over in the corner somewhat hiding what looked to be a large pile of cigarette butts. Next to that an overturned broken swing and next to that a swing sitting upright, but unfortunately the fabric was dry rotted. There were a few mildew stained plastic chairs sitting around if you did want to sit. Breakfast grossed me out as the same person working the desk was also handling the food. Last straw-we were sitting in the breakfast area having snacks when a guest came to the front desk complaining of bed bugs. When I asked the person at the desk about it, he happily shoved the napkin with the dead bug in my face and said that it was not a bed bug. In their defense, it did not look like a bed bug but due to everything else going on there it was believable enough for us to go up to our room and check our beds. Not enough parking in the torn up lot, unless you want to park in the back lot that does not have working lights. I have never stayed here before, nor will I again. Old is one thing but unsanitary and just run down is another.

Thank you for your review. I do apologize for your disappointing stay. I will talk with the housekeeping staff regarding the condition of your room.

We do try to ensure that all rooms have microwaves and refrigerators though some guests occasionally put metal in the microwave which requires them to be removed. If a guest requests a microwave and their room does not have one we can normally find one or move the guest to a room that has one.

All rooms and hallways are regularly vacuumed and shampooed, though during high traffic times (ex. check in and check out) it does dirty faster than our staff can vacuum, especially with the sand from the beach that is tracked in.

We do use Bromine in the pools rather than Chlorine, as it is less harmful to the body. Our levels are at what is required for a public pool, though some people are more sensitive to it than others.

Though our front desk attendant does occasionally serve the breakfast as well, she carries pure-ll and is always donning a fresh pair of gloves before handling any food product.

Our back parking lot (Truck parking lot) does have working lights although they are not bright like Walmart as to ensure that they do not shine into guests' rooms that face that direction. We are also currently redoing our parking lot as well.

Please, next time let the Front Desk staff know about this and we will try our best to accommodate you. If there are any problems or concerns please let us know during your stay so that we may try our best to accommodate your needs while you are here.

Very disappointed with our stay. We had no hot water in our room. We then were moved to a room that had no toilet paper and somebody's old food in the refrigerator. We left at 11:00 a.m. And when we came back at 8:00 p.m. The room was still not made up. They gave us towels for the next day but did not offer to clean it properly. After all this, I made it clear I wanted to speak to the manger. After a DOZEN attempts, I was never able to speak to him, only got messages from the desk manager that they could not do anything to compensate us for the poor stay. I then asked for the name and number of the manager's superior and surprise, surprise, I never got the info. After WEEKS of attempts, I finally gave up and will never stay at this or any other Baymont again. They obviously only care about money and not quality stays or customer satisfaction.

I have never heard of a Baymont so we were rolling the dice and came up with a winner. Our room was HUGE. We had a king size bed and separate living area with sofa sleeper. We had a jaccuzi tube in the room and a kitchenette. The sink was in a common area outside the bathroom which meant others could "get ready" while someone was in the shower (GREAT!)

The breakfast was not great and there wasn't enough seating so we took ours back to the room that's when we discovered there were only two tiny little trash cans. Who has a kitchette without a trashcan?

They also do not have any maps of the area in the lobby. There was a sprinkler in the lobby that just decided to go off which enterained my son but it did beep incessantly which I'm sure annoyed those in the rooms closest to the lobby.

They have a small parking lot.

Room Tip: Stay on the wings where it is quieter.

Thank you for your input on our rubbish bin for the kitchenette, we are always looking for ways to improve for our guests. Our Breakfast does currently exceed the requirements for Baymont though we are looking to ameliorate our offerings; I am sorry that our breakfast was not to your standards. The hotel room smelled musty. The pool looked cloudy in the evening when we wanted to swim. I had to air out my bags when I got home from the smell. Our cooler even smelled like the room. Some of the towels that were hanging up had stains or dirt on them. Not enough parking for all guests. There was extra parking behind the hotel in a ran down lot with no lights. So I parked in a no parking spot. Not enough room in the lobby for guests to sit for breakfast. Had to take our food up to our room. Smelled like someone was smoking in the hotel somewhere. We could smell it all night. Asked the desk clerks what time the shops/dining closed downtown and they had no clue

We are planning to improve our parking lot very soon, to help alleviate the parking concerns. We do hope that the next time you are in South Haven you give us a second chance and stay with us to see the improvements we are making.
