My wife and I had a wonderful experience staying at the historic Last Resort Inn. The staff was very accommodating and really went the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable and everything was right. Mary, Alberto and Sarah were very gracious and a they do a wonderful job at making you 'feel at home' Breakfast bagels and muffins or ceral are all fresh, coffee or orange juice is fresh and delicious.
The rooms were very nicely appointed and the bed was SUPER comfortable. Just like ours at home! The shower had good pressure and regulation. Our room was cozy, clean and comfortable. They offered us beach chairs to take along to the beach and they have beach towels too I believe. (we had our own but they were offered to us)
The site sits literally across the street from the shore of Lake Michigan. There are two beach entrances that each are less than a 100 yards away from the front door! Two loacl eateries for lunch or a snack are also within yards of the hotel. One directly across the street from the front door! The other, on the beach, has hot and cold food and also toys and beach ware for rent if you dont have what you need.
We couldnt have been treated better and it was a really relaxing two day escape from the kids and routine at home in Indianapolis. We will go return to the Last Resort Inn. AAA+ experience

Room Tip: The suites though a bit more really are great. We took a tour of all the rooms and when we return we may bring our two kids and spring for a suite. all the room are unique and just really nicely decorated in keeping with the history of the home. The smaller room we stayed in was nice. We didnt travel 4 hours to Lake Michigan in June to sit in a room. The room was a place to change clothes, bathing and sleeping essentially. Our room was more than adequate and again, the bed was top notch comfortable.

This was a perfect B&B for a "girlfriend" getaway! We were able to all stay comfortably in a room and we loved the location! The beach is right across the street and the walk to all of the restaurants and shops was easy and safe. This B&B is so unique due to the wonderful hosts, Mary and Alberto. They were so friendly and helpful-as well as talented! We were treated to some wonderful singing and hot salsa dancing! The breakfast is lighter than your typical B&B, but that suited us just fine. The coffee was strong, hot, and plentiful! This older home has so much character- don't expect fancy or big bathrooms though! You will spend all of your time out on the deck looking at the beautiful view or hanging out on the front porch looking at the beautiful gardens. It felt like we were truly coming "home" each night as we returned from watching the sunset.

Stayed for two nights and 2 days, amazing view of the harbor, great breakfast, accommodating to our boating teams busy schedule. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a B&B! Easy access and plenty space. We were able to have a team grill out on the beautiful patio.

South Haven is rich in B&Bs, all with their own personality, but the Last Resort is closest to staying with friends in their big old character filled house. True, there are fancier places, but we were didn't want over-the-top breakfasts heavy in saturated fats that are great for a decadent weekend, but too much of a good thing can slow you down on a short weekend. Mary and Alberto give you plenty of yummy options that won't give you a guilty conscience. Food, though, is one thing, but a caring host is another. Our first night, we had a bed that was just too soft. We thought we would have to bag the second night and head for home, but Mary and Alberto listened to us and responded with a fix that did wonders and gave us a great night's sleep. We're already scheduled for a return for Blueberry Festival in August and look forward to another stay with our new South Haven friends. Maybe Mary will sing for us again like she did at breakfast. And their dog, Rascal, what a sweetheart!
