This museum's biggest draw is it's Tall Ship, The Friends Good Will. It takes visitors on Lake Michigan during the day, dinner and a sunset cruise. They have excellent presentations of other Great Lakes rescue ships and exhibits which change regularly. It's a very good Museum and good way to spend an afternoon after a day at the beach.

If you like Great Lakes History, this is well worth it. We spent only an hour here, but could have spent more. Staff was nice, location on the water with boats to ride on if it fits your schedule or just look at the boats they have on display.

There was not a lot to see, but we learned quite a bit. They give harbor tours, and the gift shop is great.

We toured the museum and took the boat ride on the Lindy Lou. We spent about 40 minutes in the museum, learning about the various battles. It was very interesting. The boat ride was my favorite. It lasted a little over an hour. It's an eco-friendly boat, powered by electricity. The captain was knowledgeable about the area and pointed out various landmarks with notable pasts. All in all, a great afternoon!

We spent almost an hour and a half in the museum before our lake cruise on the Friends Good Will. The 2013 exhibit is on the War of 1812, and I learned a lot. The exhibit was a bit difficult to navigate, but had a huge amount of information. Very interesting.

There are also some fascinating exhibits out on the grounds of the museum. There's an amazing Coast Guard lifeboat with a video. I also enjoyed climbing aboard a retired commercial fishing boat. If it hadn't been quite so hot, I probably would have spent even more time there.

The highlight of our visit really was our hour and a half sailing cruise on the Friends Good Will. The ship crew are very friendly and knowledgeable. They allow participation in raising and lowering sails, and they're more than happy to answer any questions you have. It was an amazing experience and I'll definitely be going again. I also look forward to a cruise on the Lindy Lou next time I'm in South Haven. Can't recommend this highly enough.

A couple of caveats: If you're going in summer, take sunscreen and lots of water! It wouldn't hurt to have bug repellent for the flies too.
