Not very big, but very well maintained and interesting for a couple of hours (if you read everything). Mostly and exhibit about the war of 1812 with a few othe things tossed in. If you don't expect the Smithsonian, you should enjoy it and learn something about our states part in the forgotten war.

We stopped in for the featured exhibit about the 1812 War on the great lakes and enjoyed the other exhibits also. Good special exhibit gives a bit of history surrounding the American, British and Indian war on this 200th year anniversary. Permanent feature on lighthouses and the Coast Guard is interesting with three boats. The tall ship owned by the museum is gorgeous.

We liked going in the old fishing boats, seeing the nets used, seeing the pictures of fishing boats. Enjoyed a fish boil. The admission was worth what we received from viewing the museum.

Learn about the war of 1812 on the Great Lakes and take a ride on either of the replica vessels. Liked the museum and that boat rides!

Our young boys loved the kids' room with crows nest, coiled rope and sailor trivia. My husband and I wished we had more time to read the exhibits. They had more to look at than I imagined. We also did the overpriced kids' pirate ship outing. Maybe they had a new crew, but it was pretty poorly done...of course the boys liked it, but for $35 a person, we expected a little more coordination/effort.
