First, a formal thank you to the desk staff. They were great in helping select a room (they are all unique and different room styles) and when our reservations were in jeopardy due to a family illness.

The room decor and up keep are average and casual, not luxurious, but the amenities are what we came for and they were amazing. Fireplace, whirlpool, deck and views of the harbor. Great location.

Not much in South Haven other than usual weekend summer town shops and food, but you can't imagine a more beautiful sunset over the lake.

Recommended!

Thank you! When you call us, we listen, and match our guests to the room or suite that best fits a guest's particular needs, budget and preferences. We are ANYTHING but cookie cutter at Old Harbor Inn! And you are right, our sunsets are amazing! We live life "One Sunset at a Time"

This hotel was very unique and well worth a night's stay. The property is split between several buildings built into the dock right on the river. Its a very cool experience. The room itself was very nice. It appears as if it was updated with a sprinkler system and an updated bathroom. It looks like when it was updated some of the repairs weren't really finished by a professional (open holes in the drywall in the ceiling, open holes where the old shower rack was in the tub, etc.) This did not take away from the experience of the stay at all. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It is within walking distance of everything you would want to do downtown. Overall a great experience.

South Haven is such a great town, and Old Harbor Inn is in the heart of it all perched above the Black River Harbor and within walking distance of everything! We are glad you enjoyed your time with us!

We stayed a Thursday and Friday night and were in room #2. Room was nice the layout of the hotel is a little confusing, it's split into different buildings but we got the hang of it quickly. The room was good had a kitchenette and nice sized bathroom, a little outdated but clean which is most important to us. The location is amazing you can walk to the lake and to anywhere downtown. There are a few bar/restaurants in the old harbor boardwalk that are open until 2am we were a little worried about noise when we came back at 11pm on Friday night but it was fine. Luckily the building our room was in was not over any of the places. We had a great stay and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The hotel was ok. The hotel staff was somewhat friendly(No my pleasures said here..:o). They didn't seem to want to be there. Downtown hotels should always have a lot or garage for parking at the property. Their parking lot was down the street and around the corner for $10...lol. What's the point? We got lucky and found parking close by, when needed. The restaurant downstairs played loud music until late. If you're a light sleeper, don't stay downstairs. The bathroom didn't have any towel racks nor a hook to hang your robe. Now that was a first. Maybe that was just the case in our room? The one thing I did like was being able to walk out to go wherever downtown and to the Idler.

Downtown is somewhat parking challenged on busy weekends, since so many want to enjoy South Haven. All city parking is free. We do lease a small lot around the corner as an paid guaranteed option for our guests. The bright side is once you park, you can walk everywhere! Thank you for bringing the hook to our attention. That room was recently redone and we have added a hook. Most reviews remark that our staff is friendly, but we can all have down moment. Thank you for the review.

Overall, the room was lovely, spacious, and well decorated. Now, the issues. Check in was a long process, as the desk person was interrupted numerous times with calls(lasting up to 5 minutes) other people, and overall, we were at least 20 minutes getting checked in. The room was upstairs overlooking Harbor, and at $169.00 per night, I didn't think a particularly great value. The hot water faucet in bathroom had no water, the alrm clock didnt work at all, and there was poor lighting, with one bulb being burned out, making that matter worse. The balcony in only large enough for 2 small chairs to sit sideways, and the overlook the roof of a riverboat bar. If we were to have left our door open, there would have been far too much noise. WiFi almost never worked. The room had a jacuzzi tub with shower in it, and was quite a strech to get into to shower.

The week following Labor Day is very popular, with beautiful weather and lower rates. Prime check-in time can be hectic, especially when you split your invoice 3 ways and each pay cash. We call our private balconies "small" and suited for two guests. Thank you for letting us know the bathroom sink inexplicably had the hot water valve shut off. We are glad you found your room lovely, spacious and well decorated. Our rates are very competitive for South Haven, and with the views and downtown location, walking distance to everything, we believe Old Harbor Inn is an excellent value. We very much hope you enjoyed your time together here.
