We stayed at L'Ancienne Ferme at the beginning of June as a couple of couples, and we had such an amazing week! The Farmhouse itself is just beautiful, the interiors are well thought out and super stylish but in keeping with the traditional surroundings, with a little hints of luxury everywhere. The beds were really comfortable, and the bathrooms in particular felt really special - the rolltop bath was my favourite! The kitchen/cooking facilities were well equipped with little extras like a Nespresso coffee machine and Weber BBQ, and we were really grateful for the Welcome Box left for us full of local produce, fresh baguette and wine for when we arrived. The outside space was wonderful, the gite feels really secluded and quiet, the pool area is lovely with lots of comfy sunloungers and views over rolling fields. Also lots of outside space for my other half and his friend to run around with a rugby ball! It was great to have the table tennis table and other games as well to keep us entertained during relaxing evenings with bottles of local wine. I couldn't recommend the farmhouse highly enough, Craig and Emma were lovely hosts, full of local knowledge and really helpful with anything we needed. The area itself and all the beautiful local towns and villages (Villereal, Isseaigac, Bergerac, Beynac and Sarlat were our favourites) is a great area to visit, really relaxing and authentic, great food and wine (would recommend doing some local wine tasting) and lovely local restaurants. Would also suggest a trip here isnt complete without some kayaking on The Dordogne, a day well spent!
