We did not stay at the inn but my husband and I went to the Bay pointe inn restarant last Aug, for our anniversery dinner. We got all dressed up thinking it was a really nice place, When we got there we were greeted by two teenage hostesses who were (in my opinion) dressed inappropriately (mini shirts and flip flops). The food was decent, although not as good as we expected. We waited a LONG time for our meal (I think our server forgot to put our order in). And while we were there, a family with 3 young children came in wearing their bathing suites and let their children run around the restarant and play while they visited with friends. We paid a lot for our meal and did not feel like it was worth it at all! The atmosphere and the food were very poor. Not exactly the romantic dinner we had hoped for =(

We were looking for a special place to celebrate our wedding anniversary and decided to try the Bay Pointe Inn for dinner.. It's about a half hour drive from our home. The staff was very friendly and the service was good. We were a little disappointed in the quality of food. They did not have the appetizer we ordered (it was not ready????) and had no anchovies for the Caesar salad. The salad greens were directly poured from the bag(no extras i.e. croutons, cheese, a garnish or two) and the dressing was very mediocre. Our entrees were quite non-descript--my fish was virtually flavorless. For the amount of the check (nearly $90--includes tax and tip) we were expecting something a little more special. The complex is very nice--would probably be a great overnite place to stay. Hopefully, they will improve on the quality of the food in their restaurant. They have the potential to be a great dining destination--nice ambience and friendly, competent employees.

Excellent stay!!
The staff at all points were top of the line. Friendly, accomodating, thoughtful, considerate.... what more can I say about the staff. In the business world this is quality hands down. It is the people that make or break your business and this business will be a round a long time.
The location is wonderfull if you are in need of a quick close to home get away.
The restaurant food, drink and staff were fabulous. I was there on a business retreat weekend which allowed families and I brought my son, who on the way there he became sick. The first item on the agenda for the day was lunch. We chose not to let him eat due to his stomach upset. The chef at the restaurant noticed he wasn't eating and ask if he could make him something special!!!! How very thoughtful and considerate! We found the prices reasonable for the quality of food!
Our room was nicely equipped and decorated with seaside decor with a nice little patio area for sitting in the evening and watching the sun go down over the water.
The pool area was even a nice change. The temperture was very comfortable... Not humid like most others. I was able to read .... without feeling like I am in a sauna, while my son (who recovered quickly) swam.
We rented a couple of pontoons to take our group around the lake and we had a problem with one as we started out. The hotel manager came right out and called the repair person at the company were the pontoon was rented from and within 30 minutes we were on our way. It truned out to be operator error, but the the service from both the manager and the repair person was great!
I could go on and on but I think you get the idea..... absolutely will go back ....absolutely recommend this fine establishment to all travelers in and around the Grand Rapid area.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bay Pointe for the first time in April for my birthday. We had the Ultimate Suite and it was great but it was big. The kitchen was large, and there was an actual sitting room with a TV and DVD player. The bedroom area was also large and had incredibly comfortable bedding. There was a three way fireplace that could be seen from the inside of the bathroom (it sits next to the jetted tub), sleeping area, and the sitting room.

We went to dinner at the restaurant and it was fantastic. For a small area like this one it may seem pricey, but compared to a large city it is reasonable and the food is great. They are always happy to recommend something or let you substitute something different for your side dishes. There may be an extra charge but everything that they prepare there is very unusual. This is not a restaurant with cooks, they have chefs. There always seems to be a lot of locals who really like it there too. Some even came over in their pontoon boats for dinner when we went in April.

We came back to our suite that evening and the hotel had left us a couple of little slices of cheesecake and a birthday card for me. It was a nice little surprise after traveling in on a Friday night from work.

We spent some time at the pool and hot tub. It was very clean and had some basketballs and toys to play with. They also have movies for kids in their conference room at night which would probably be nice for families.

When we returned in November, we took the deluxe suite at the recommendation of the person at the front desk. It was smaller than the ultimate suite, but much cozier in a romantic way. There is no sitting area and the tub is in the main room of the suite where you can watch TV or movies from it. Both rooms have an awesome view of the lake and a balcony to sit on. This was does not have as extensive of a kitchen set-up. It only has a mini fridge and a microwave with a little counter space. I like it since you shouldn’t have to cook on a get away weekend or vacation.

We had brought wine and forgot the corkscrew and the front desk had one to borrow. They gave us wine glasses as well. We were also able to borrow DVDs to watch in our room from the front desk with very little effort. Everything is very laid back and they really take their service seriously.

The service at the Bay Pointe is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is always a great time. It is a very quaint inn with a lot of great little amenities. If you are looking for a big chain type hotel or a franchise, keep driving. This is definitely much homier. The restaurant is not a typical hotel restaurant. It is much better and has an identity all it’s own as the hotel does. That’s why we are going back this week!

We were traveling north and found no vacancy at the chain hotel we wanted in Kalamazoo. We saw a billboard and ad for this establishment, and decided to try it out. Called, and received an answering machine, but went there anyway. Pleasantly surprised to get a lakeside room mid-week for $69. The room was clean, but lacked decent lighting. Also no coffee or tea pot. The best part was the fabulous lake-side location and view. We could sit out on a small terrace about 30 feet from the lake.
The restaurant was pricey for what it was, but the setting on the lake was very pleasant. Staff were all very young and personable, but not very knowledgable. They were out of the wine we ordered. We requested rice instead of potato with fish, and were charged $2 extra for about 3 tablespoons of rice. Initially they still brought the fish on the potato bed, but my husband asked them to change it. Then they brought it back with no potato, but rice in a little side dish. Rice was on the menu with other fish dishes, so don't understand the problem.
Our anniversary was the next day, and we were celebrating early since we would be with a big family group the following four days. The manager came and asked us about our experience and we told him it was very pleasant and told him about our anniversary. For the price I would have expected a small token in respect of the occasion, but nothing. All in all, we were very pleased with our experience. The setting, hotel price, friendliness of staff were all great. We would return and bring friends but not eat at the restaurant.

Nice get-a-way! Only about 30 minutes from Grand Rapids. We stayed in the ultimate suite. Very nice setting, large room, staff was friendly. When we stayed they offered stay one night and one night free. That was an excellant deal. Don't think I would pay full price other times of the year, they are a little pricey. But for the price it was a wonderful, much needed time away.
We also ate at the restaurant. Great food! There prices seemed very good and excellent staff.
