Awesome place to view wildlife. We had a magnificent tour with a guide (Ronnie) who would point out birds and other interesting wildlife. They showed us a 15 minute video before the tour of the Refuge which was very informative. The Staff are nice, knowledgeable, and helpful!! Great place for everyone of all ages!!

We stopped on the way through and we ended up spending a lot of time there, the staff at the visitors center were terrific.
The wildlife is amazing, we saw all kinds of stuff, Loons, Swans, you name it.
This is a must stop if you are in the area, We plan to go back when we have a few days to explore this vast refuge.
Make sure you have bug spray or you will get eaten alive..

The facility is staffed by well-informed volunteers who readily give ideas for wildlife viewing. We took the auto tour and found it well marked even to the point of posts with arrows which indicated where to find various bird nests. There is an active osprey nest visible from the deck behind the visitor center.

Took the drive several times during our stay looking to see Moose and Bear did not see anything but ducks, swans and birds. However the views over the lake with the sun setting was well worth the trip. Monday they offer a bus tour that was nice and relaxing, and full of information. BRING BUG SPRAY!!! Deer flies are BAD. If you take a hike look for TICKS after the tour within the trees we found 6 ticks.

First off, we didn't see much wildlife besides swans, geese, and one osprey. Didn't matter. The seven mile drive is beautiful and relaxing. I've been to a few wildlife reserves in other parts of the country and this one is the most beautiful that I have seen. A very nice 1-2 hour diversion.
