The inn was quaint, albeit a bit cramped. It's a charming old home, clean and well-maintained. Beds are extremely comfortable! The stairs to the second floor suite are an accident waiting to happen, however-extremely steep with very narrow steps. Dangerous to navigate. Marywood Manor's location can't be faulted. Guests are within a very short walk to shopping, restaurants, and attractions. The innkeepers, Gary and Jan, however, are not terribly welcoming. Gary greeted us upon our arrival with a series of rules and admonitions rather than welcoming his guests to his home. Our first impression was that of being condescended to rather than welcomed. Our innkeeper/cook, Jan, took rudeness and being inhospitable to a whole new level. We felt like we were imposing on her...like unwelcome guests who dropped in unannounced! Breakfasts were tasty and adequate, but certainly not anywhere near gourmet quality. Rooms rates are high, based on the quality of meals and accomodations. Charging beyond the room rate for extra guests also seemed excessive as compared to quality. Jan scolded us like children on several occasions. I don't know why she and her husband are in the hospitality industry as they, most especially Jan, see their guests are annoyances! Had it not been for the wonderful people we met who were also staying at the inn, the social portion of our stay would have been awful! We booked a B&B for the warmth and hospitality we hoped it would...The inn was quaint, albeit a bit cramped. It's a charming old home, clean and well-maintained. Beds are extremely comfortable!
