What an amazing view of Lake Michigan! The motel is almost at the end of the road and sits up high overlooking the lake. Although the place is dated to the 60's the rooms are adequate with grounds that are beautiful. They have a continental breakfast, pool, hiking trails, bikes, firepits and some of the best sunsets. Did I mention the beach? It's a private beach with the only drawback being all the steps down to the beach. But once you get there it is so clean and secluded with white sand with kayaks, lounge chairs, umbrellas, waterfloats and the view. Saugatuck and Douglas are only minutes away if you want shopping or dinner. Everyday People Cafe is only one of the several places that have excellent food. But as far as your stay just learn to relax and enjoy the view. You can not go wrong if you stay here.

We visited Lake Shore Resort for our one year anniversary and have a great time! Lake Shore is quiet and relaxing, just what we were looking for. It's a very friendly place that has thought of everything. They provide bikes, kayaks, beach lounge chairs, beach umbrellas, fire pits at night, a pool, and a putting green. There's a fridge in each room so that you can stay at the resort all day and have your own lunch without having to leavve.

Stayed the first weekend in June. Beautiful setting on Lake Michigan. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Staff -friendly. The grounds were manicured and the flowers were stunning. Loved all the decks, the beach amenities, and the quiet.

We are definitely planning on returning to this resort.

This was our favorite place that we stayed on our trip around Lake Michigan. The view is fantastic and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. It is set in a quiet neighborhood of beautiful homes. The buildings are a little old but are decorated nicely. The shower wasn't very good. The breakfast was nice and a lovely place to eat as you look out on the lake. The beach is quite a ways down the stairs, but they have decks at different levels so you can still enjoy it without going all the way down. There are lots of tables and chairs available to enjoy the view. Overall, it was a great experience and I would love to go back for a longer time.

What a great place to stay. It has to have one of the best views of the sunset in the U.S. Only the West Coast on the ocean could compare. Facing the lake directly west puts you in a great view, and to some degree has a great view immediately after the sun sets.

The rooms were very nice and clean. I was very impressed. The room had a fridge, and coffee maker. The showers had very good water pressure. I took very long hot showers while there. Very good showers. The beds were soft which some may like, but too soft for me. That's ok though.

They had a very nice breakfast each morning, coffee, juice, fresh muffins & bread. It's nice to sit and have a nice breakfast with a fantastic view of the lake in the morning, just can't beat that.

The beach at the resort was incredible. You would think you were at the ocean as big and wide as the beach was.

The place was very relaxing and clean. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a great place to vacation or just to relax. I felt like everybody there was there for a reason, to have some relaxation without any BS.

The management was great as well, very friendly and intelligent people. There is a reason this place is sold out all summer long. You can either go there and visit and get it, or just read about it and "think" you get an idea of what it's like. I read the reviews beforehand, and experienced it firsthand. As I had breakfast this Sunday morning I talked to a guy who has been coming there for 20 years. The place must be doing something right! I had a blast this weekend.

As others have said, the Lake Michigan view from this property is outstanding. This part of Lakeshore Drive runs along Lake Michigan. On one side of the road is a quick drop down to the lake and on the other side are mostly houses plus this motel. This motel has steps leading down to the beach. There is a small seating area halfway down and more seating on the beach. The beaches on the Michigan side of Lake Michigan are incredible and I challenge anyone to find better beaches. In addition to the beach area, the motel has a large lawn with a variety of seating areas including two fire pits. They also have an older putting green (balls & putters are provided) and an outdoor pool. They also provide bicycles and kayaks. That pretty well sums up the outside of the motel. This is what draws people to willingly pay $140 a night to stay there.

The motel was built by the owner's parents back in the 50's. It is a typical motel of that era (single story with room doors that lead directly outside). Over the years, the owners have tried to renovate the rooms to keep them up to date. I think they have done almost everything they can to maximize this property short of tearing it down and starting over. Despite their efforts, at the end of the day, it is still an old motel. The rooms are clean but are not noteworthy in any way. Does this matter? After all, how much time do you spend in your room? That's for you to decide.

There is no exercise room, no indoor pool, no bar/restaurant, business center, meeting rooms etc. It's just not that type of place. They do offer a continental breakfast in the morning. Whether or not it is satisfying depends on you. My wife liked it both days we were there. The first day, I had OJ and I skipped it entirely the second day. They have OJ, coffee, muffins, hard boiled eggs, dry cereal, English muffins, and that's about all. My wife pointed out while their selection may be extremely limited, the muffins were locally made and not from Gordon Food Service. She has a good point but what they offered simply was not much or what I wanted.

As for the staff, we talked to them at check-in, check-out, and a couple times in between. They seemed very nice. I forgot to mention to them that the door knob on the bathroom door in room 15 is at the end of its useful life, so hopefully they will read this and replace it before somebody gets stuck in there.

Would we stay here again? That's a tough call. Without a doubt, people pay a premium here because of the great view. The lawn also serves as a nice gathering area if you are traveling with a group. However, finding a great view of Lake Michigan is pretty easy to find (we like Oval Beach a lot). It all comes down to what is more important to you. Do you spend a lot to get a nice hotel but no view, or do you spend a lot to get a spectacular view but an ordinary motel.

We appreciate the 4 Bullet review by this guest, however a couple points should be expanded for those who read the comments. Although the "Lake Shore" was first opened in the 1950's with an offering of cabins, cottages, and B & B rooms in the old farm house, ALL of those original buildings were removed and replaced over time. In addition to the breakfast items mentioned in the review, our continental breakfast always includes; fresh fruit, yogart, bagels with cream cheese, sweat rolls, oat meal, the ever popular "seedy salt" baked bread along with Lipton teas and no-fat milk. Perhaps the writer was so overwhelmed by the panoramic view of Lake Michigan during their breakfast that these additional items were overlooked. Thank you.

My sisters and I are 46+ yrs. old. We were reprimanded at 10:30 p.m. the first night for laughing with other guests around the fire pit. We were reprimanded at 7:00 p.m. another night for laughing in our rooms while our windows were open............Way uncool. We spent $1000 and couldn't have a good laugh without the rude manager yelling at us like our dad. It is a RETIREMENT RESORT not an all adult resort. Won't be back. Think twice before you reserve a room.
