we stayed here last week for 3 nights.Weather perfect so we enjoyed the pool area andate lunch on restaurant terrace food there excellent. The hotel is a good standard and in alovely rural area (if a little difficult to find) We do however have a few negative comments,--the breakfast could be improved , coffee was bitter and tasted stewed tomatoes would have been nice with the cheese / ham eggs would have been a good addition. The lack of a balcony in the room was a disapointment! The staff only seemed to offer minimal interaction seemed more interested in being focused on the computer screen behind the desk! It was a shame that there was not the opportunity to eat breakfast alfresco.

From the moment we checked in nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and helpful staff. The room was spotlessly clean and the views over the pool and countryside were beautiful.
We were told that the restaurant was excellent, but on the night we stayed they had a wedding party and so the restaurant was closed until 9pm, but the reception staff recommended a local restaurant which was wonderful.
Wish we could have stayed longer - will definitely go back, for longer next time

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at this hotel. Very quiet and relaxing with excellent service. A fairly small, family run hotel. They were all very charming and couldn't do enough for us to the extent of driving us to a restaurant and picking us up again as we hadn't hired a car. There was a very picturesque 5 hole pitch and putt golf course, but nevertheless it was quite testing. The pool, restaurant and rooms were all lovely. Bedrooms were spotlessly clean. Only a couple of comments - snack lunches are fairly restricted and if you are an in-between meal snacker, take something with you. I would advise hiring a car, but ask the hotel for a map of the local roads - easy to get lost. Beautiful beaches, though can be windy. The Portugese are so welcoming and friendly. Would recommend this holiday to anyone.

The Quinta dos poetas is a family run place - which you notice at once when you arrive. We were greated with warm hospitality and experienced during our stay that they are always there to make your holiday as pleasant as possible.Top service, couldn't be better, and every time with charm / a smile. Always, though, in a descrete way - making you feel at home and relaxed. The hotel is small, and that is what we prefer, we also loved the perfect calmness. The hotel has a beautiful garden, lovely, well kept swimming pool, an the best: he restaurant is almost shockingly good, considering the price. Breakfast is fresh and relaxed - a buffet with selected cheese, ham, fresh fruits, cereals a.s.o .We had some trouble finding the right way from Faro airport - my advice is to follow the signs for Faro, after that to Tavira/Olhaou. When in Olhao, you need to turn180 degregrees in one of the roundabouts to find a small sign for Pechao - look out, not easy to see. Then you follow the instructions from the hotel. If you don't rent a car, Taxi to Olhao is around 10 euros - a colourful, charming town - we recommend restaurant Ria de Formosa. For a guided trip around the Ria Formosa we recommend Natura. You have to book in advance, look it up on the internet.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from staying here for a week (21.08.10 - 28.08.10) and I can only enthuse with all the other reviews already on here, about what a wonderful little find this place is!

Several earlier reviews mention that the hotel has inadequate signposting and is therefore not easy to find. I can only assume the owners are keeping a close eye on these reviews because they look to have rectified it, because we found no such problem. We travelled to it through Estoi and there must have been near half a dozen signposts for the hotel. To be honest it was very easy to find. We had prepared for this by putting the hotel's GPS co-ordinates into a sat nav, but, if we hadn't, I'm pretty confident we still wouldn't have had a problem finding it because of all the signs.

Checking-in was fast and efficient and our luggage was brought up to our room for us within five minutes. The hotel only has 22 rooms, either with a pool view or a view of the countryside at the front of the hotel overlooking the small car park. Our room was spotless, fairly spacious, modern, bright and airy with air-con (would have been useful to have had instructions on how to set this, there's so many settings it's confusing! You woke up in the middle of the night either too cold, or too hot, we could never get it right). The bathroom is also very good, and has a window in it, there is also a hair-dryer provided. The only slight gripe - a shower curtain??! (Why oh why, do they still persist in having these horrible things, it's 2010 for heaven's sake, a glass screen would have been SO much better!)

The hotel and pool area has a slightly elevated position affording it excellent views of the surrounding countryside. The restaurant is a separate area, just a short stroll through the grounds and serves up some quality food. You won't be disappointed. It's rumoured to be the best cuisine in the area, and the service is excellent too.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned on here thus far is that, they don't seem to mind you bringing your own food and drinks to the pool area, which is a nice change (most hotels of this standard are pretty strict on enforcing this). Even so, we were very discreet about it. Be aware that, rather surprisingly, they don't have Coca-Cola, only Pepsi-Cola! Certainly not the same thing in my book. Actually this seemed to be a recurring theme across The Algarve! The one thing that lets the pool area down is the white plastic furniture - it's not in keeping with the surroundings and the hotel's 'rustic' appeal and feel - it reminds me of tacky, run of the mill accommodation in inferior hotels and apartments, which this hotel certainly isn't. It would really smarten the poolside area up if they replaced them all with wooden furniture. Despite the minor gripes though, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. If it's peace and quiet you're after in a good standard of accommodation, you could do a lot worse than paying this place a visit.

I hope this review has been helpful.

Agree with all the other reviews, hotel is excellent for a relaxing break. Hotel is very clean and the staff are very attentive and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Stayed here for a week, didn't rent a car as we just wanted to relax, and had the pool area to ourselves for several hours on 2 or 3 days. Thought we may be able to walk the 5km to Olhao but I think this is 'as the crow flies' distance and would be longer walking , didn't try in the end as it would have been too hot to walk there and too dangerous on the narrow unlit roads to walk back. On the times we went out the hotel booked us a taxi. The hotel restaurant serves excellent, well presented dishes and has a good value for money lunch set menu - 3 courses plus a drink for 12.5 Euros. They do not however cater for vegetarians (apart from 2 cheese based starters) so if you don't each fish or meat you may be in trouble, although if you asked I'm sure they would try and provide something. The hotel does a limited range of sandwiches at lunchtime - ham, cheese or both in a toastie or sandwich and this is perhaps an area they could expand on. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful, relaxing break but hire a car if you want to venture further afield.

We stayed in the Hotel for 4 nights. The Hotel is lovely and exceptionally clean. It is located in a very quiet area about 10 minutes drive from Olhao. The Hotel has a very nice restaurant and is very inexpensive. The owners and the staff are great....they go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant.....the owner of the hotel drove us to the port to go on a boat trip when our taxi did not arrive and one evening I ran out of cigarettes the owner of the hotel went into town to get cigarettes for me. We would definitely return to this hotel.
