“LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2012

This was our first stay at a B&B and we are so glad we decided to give it a try. Bill is an absolutely fabulous host and baker! A hot, delicious breakfast each morning along with a chilled glass of wine and deliciously paired cheese each evening, just topped off our visit. We stayed for 4 days and enjoyed every moment! I had to continue my 5 o'clock wine and cheese "tradition" at home! The accomodations, setting, scenery and overall ambience of his home was very welcoming and relaxing. We stayed in the Admiral's Suite and enjoyed the space it provided. The Inn is just a short walk to the beach which was not overcrowded and was very clean. Also enjoyed all of the shops and eateries. Loved Bill's suggestion of Ryebelles for dinner. We loved the firecracker shrimp and the House Favorite brick oven pizza. My husband and I highly recommend this beautiful, relaxing Inn and hope to return soon ourselves!

My husband and I stayed at South Cliff Inn for our 1 year anniversary. We absolutely loved it! The view from the sunset room is amazing. Breakfast and coffee were excellent. The owner takes very good care of everything - spotless rooms with great linens, lovely garden area, etc. We will go back.

We chose South Cliff IInn as a destination for a mini-class reunion for five high school buddies and their wives. We couldn't have asked for a better location or accomodations.

We had spectacular views of Lake Michigan from the back decks (which, unfortunately for the other guests, we monopolized way too much) as well as quiet times in the garden out back. The sunsets over Lake Michigan are special highlights.

But the inn is also within easy walking distance of both the beaches and the downtown area. The hosts are extremely helpful in suggesting places to eat as well as recommending things to do in the area.

The only thing less than perfect was the serving time for breakfasts on the weekend. We had to wait until 10:00 AM, which for some people probably isn't a bad time, but for us it seemed a bit late. But the breakfasts are definitely worth waiting for! And coffe and tea are set out early for us early risers.

The inn is clean and cozy, and the rooms are well appointed, spacious, and comfortable. Two have balconies looking toward the lake. We ate breakfast each morning on the large deck, but there is plenty of room inside for dining if the weather doesn't co-operate.

Overall, it was a wonderful long weekend of getting caught up on each others' lives since high school as well as experiencing the wonderful area of southwest Michigan. We plan to reprise this mini-reunion in the future and will most likely return to St.Joe and the South Cliff Inn. It's well worth a return visit.

Room Tip: The Study Room and the Sunset Room have balconies overlooking Lake Michigan.

We took a chance on the South Cliff Inn on a stopover in St Joseph. This is an excellent place to stay with great views of the Lake. Wine and cheese from 5-6pm and a great breakfast. Importantly for my wife the breakfast had gluten free options including amazing pumpkin muffins. Give it a try you will not be disappointed

Room Tip: Try the room with lake view with a jacuzzi with lake views

We stayed here on a visit to St. Joseph, MI and we loved it. We have been trying to just stay in B&B wherever we go and so far we have on a a good streak! This place was warm and Bill, the owner, was friendly. He was even kind enough to let us in the middle of the night because we could not get the door open. You would wake up to the smell of breakfast, and when you finally get to the dining room... OMG the breakfast was to die for.

We have stayed at many B&B's, and my husband & I agreed that this wonderful place is hard to beat! We arrived in the evening to a very warm welcome from Bill. Our room was beautiful, very clean, and had amazing views of Lake Michigan. After a long 15 hour day of travelling, we immediately felt at home & were able to relax within the short time we had here. We especially could not believe the incredible breakfast-the absolute best & the most food we have ever had! (and we were the only 2 guests as a last minute booking) Saying Bill is a good cook is an understatement! We felt he really went above & beyond what any other B&B has done or would have done for just 2 guests.
We only wished we had more time here than one night, and wish we lived closer as we would definitely come back often. This place truly is, in our eyes, a perfectly run, beautiful,& relaxing B&B. If only we could give 10 Stars - we would!

My husband and I love to stay at different B&Bs. We stayed at South Cliff for two nights during a weekday getaway. Since it was also off-season, we had the place to ourselves. Bill is very friendly and a fabulous chef! Absolutely the best breakfast I have ever had at a B&B. Both mornings Bill cooked a lovely, huge breakfast even though we were the only guests! The bread pudding is wonderful...

We stayed in the Harbour Room on the main floor. It is right outside the breakfast room. It's small but spotlessly clean and attractive. There is a Jacuzzi and private separate bathroom. And beautiful lake views from almost every window.

The Inn is in a great location - near town and several wineries. Bill suggested several restaurants and we had dinner at one called Grand Mere Inn. It was fantastic.

We enjoyed our stay very much and I would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the deck and garden.

Room Tip: If you like being on the main floor, the Harbour Room is great although on the small side. It also h...
