America's Best Value Inn
Ranked #14 of 29 Hotels in Saint Ignace
Reviewed August 11, 2013

We were traveling through St Ignace and needed a place to stay for the night. The rooms were very clean, breakfast was good, and the staff was all very helpful. Even the manager of the hotel asked us how our stay was. All in all, a very good experience. This will be the place I stay the next time I'm in St. Ignace.

We were very happy with our stay. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and large. The breakfast was great. They say it's a "continental" but it's a "deluxe." In addition to the usual bagels, toast and muffins, they served biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, and sausage. The woman who manged the breakfast was extremely friendly. The pool was usable, but wasn't great. It could use a bit of work. Saying this, though, we still used it.

We found this "Americas Best Value Inn" to be a best value in St. Ignace. The Wi-Fi was superior to both my wife's ATT air card as well as my Verizon air card. The staff were very friendly and responsive to our every need. We loved the "Little House" breakfast room and enjoyed a dip in the pool and the hot tub. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. The location is within a mile of the main shopping area and the boats to the Island. The price was reasonable when considering it included breakfast which could easily run $18.00 per couple. We will return here this fall and stay here again. If you want larger rooms then there are other hotels at twice the price or if you want cheaper rooms there are a few really budget places at two thirds the cost but don't expect good Wi-Fi or breakfast or a pool. Mr. and Mrs. Shadduck, very satisfied customers!

Thank you so much for the great review. Our Wi-Fi was upgraded within the last year and has been working great. I'm happy you enjoyed our recently expanded breakfast bar. I think our guests have really been happy with that this year. Thanks again for staying with us. Hope to see you again!

Stayed here 2 night for the 4th of July weekend. Rooms are basic - few toiletries, old decor, the air conditioner sort of worked. The outside lights really attract insects and it's difficult to get inside without a swarm of them. Breakfast was simple and the room was too small for the crowd but the staff was really trying.

Thank you for staying with us and for the review. I'm sorry you had trouble with bugs outside. They are attracted to light and there isn't much you can do about nature's little pests and outside lights. We hope to see you again soon.

We arrived at our motel on a Monday. The room was nice and clean. The clerk was very friendly. The only problem was that I could not use my laptop, no wifi. It was supposed to be available but was not. there could have been another plug -in in the room. For the price we paid it was good enough. The location is far from all shopping.

Room Tip: All the rooms are on one level. No noise above you.

Thank you for staying with us. I'm sorry you had trouble with the wi-fi. It was updated within the last year and we very rarely have any issues. We are located among all of the other larger hotels in St. Ignace and are approximately 1 mile from the downtown area. Thank you again for staying with us and I hope you can try us again sometime.

Went up for a funeral on July 5th so booked the hotel through hotels.com. When we arrived, our room was on the 2nd floor with no elevators. Since my husband has mobility issues he cannot climb stairs so I took one of the two rooms they had available on the first floor (both were hot tub rooms) and paid a little more - not a big deal - i should have specified before booking that he had mobility issues. The issue was that at 11 pm the people with a hot tub above our room turned on the water to fill their tub and it was so loud there was no way anyone could sleep. Then the jets turned on and it wasn't as loud but they continued to add hot water (i'm assuming) on and off over the next two plus hours. It was after 1 am when I finally got to sleep. It was not the tenants fault - they paid for a hot tub room. Upon registering a complaint with the hotel they said they put all hot tub rooms in one area because they make noise and that way anyone not requesting one does not have to hear it.....OMG _ there was NO mention of the noise when they offered the room. I will not return to this hotel. Oh and the room had damage to the walls and ceiling from the hot tub in the room above leaking previously. Also water leaking into the bathroom through the grout at the wall. There were pieces hanging from the ceiling where it had previously been patched.

Room Tip: Ask for a room no where near the hot tub rooms or you will not sleep.

The hotel was clean and the location wasnt bad. We would of rather stayed on the shore but those hotels were booked. This hotel is across the street from another hotel on the shore and only a mile from the ferry to mackinac island. For the price and the fact we booked 2 days before the 4th of july weekend we were pleased. The only down side was rooms are older and you can hear all your neighbors walk and the traffic so ask for a room away from road and upstairs.

Thank you for your review! Our sister hotel is directly across the street from us and is on Lake Huron. Our guests are more than welcome to use the 700' of lake frontage which has several areas to sit and enjoy the view, a playground, beach volleyball, tetherball and several firepits. Thanks again for staying with us.
