“wonderful breakfast and lunch!”

Cafe Muse presents an exquisite palate of flavors with unique pairings. By combining bistro food with the newer chic movement they create great tasting dishes and a comfortable atmosphere.

“Wonderful, creative cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2012

It's a true pleasure to eat at a small, local restaurant in contrast to the ubiquitous chains, with their corporate food. Royal Oak is lucky to have a number of good local eateries, but Cafe Muse is a standout. There's a wonderful selection of interesting small plates: the flatbread and the mushroom medley were particularly wonderful. All of the mains that we tried were also wonderful, but the scallops were particularly fantastic. To make matters even better, the prices are fair, the wine and beer list is extensive, and the service was solicitous and polite. Highly recommended!

“Expanded Dining Area and New Bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

It's been a while since I've eaten at the Cafe Muse and since my last trip, they have expanded into the storefront next door. It literally doubles their dining area. This really cuts down on the wait time for a table but I would still recommend a reservation. Being in the downtown area of Royal Oak, there is no free parking, but there is mettered paking and parking structures within walking distance. Cafe Muse tries to use Michigan farms and companies to supply their produce, meats and dairy whenever possible. The decor in the original space is a little European with draped curtains and small tables close together. The new dining area is a little austere in that there is no real decoration, bare walls and a bar at the back end. However the food is what you come here for or at least you should. The tables are very close together so you may get to know your neighbors a little more than you want but with space at a premium, I can understand their reasoning. Although we are not drinkers and didn't have drinks, they looked to have a nice selection of alcoholic beverages, local michigan craft beers and wines. We were there for dinner and the menu has changed a little. There are bar snacks, salads, sandwiches, small plates and an assortment of entrees, which include sea food, beef, duck, chicken and even a few selections for vegetarians. They also have specials every night. We had hoped to start with their famous grilled cheese sandwich with shortribs, as an appetizer, but it is no longer on the menu. So we started with the pulled pork ravioli, which is listed as a small plate, but which we shared as an appetizer. It is a breaded fried ravioli stuffed with pulled pork and served with a mustard sauce. It is also served with brussel sprouts which really added to the flavors. We tried the organic chicken served with a sweet potatoe puree and apple cherry chutney sauce and one of the specials, a waygu (Kobe Beef) filet steak which starts at 3 ounces which you can increase in size for $7.00 per ounce. Both entrees were very good and prepared to perfection. The chicken was moist and tender and the steak was very tender and flavorful. We had a leisurely dinner and didn't feel rushed. Although they have a dessert menu we left no room for dessert and will have to save that review for our next visit. We enjoy this restaurant for a change of pace and definitely will return.

“Awesome breakfast”

Excellent variety with a gourmet twist. Very tasty. Great for a large appetite. I had the scrambled eggs with Italian sauce. Coffee was great bold but not bitter. Service was good. All meals were served hot.

“Very nice food”

This place has nice food and uses imagination to come up with menues. The organic and local ingrediants in use in things is an extra bonus that makes it so I want to go back.
