“Best Front Desk Staff Ever”
Reviewed July 8, 2008

This Courtyard has the best Front Desk Staff anywhere. I've stayed in many five-star properties who could take lessons from these professionals. Briget was so nice, She even went to her car to get me her cell-phone charger (which matched my phone) after we searched through the lost charger box in the office and couldn't find one that matched. The following morning, the lady who checked me out was equally nice, helpful and friendly and double checked the airport shuttle location to make sure we didn't miss. The room was very comofortable and clean. Who could want more.

We stayed here during the AIM COGIC Convention. We enjoyed our stay. Our was room was cleaned daily and fresh towels given without asking. The room was spacious. The bathroom doesn't make you feel enclosed. They have fridges on request and microwave downstairs to use. It was very quiet a part from hearing the planes overhead(unless you were really paying attention). Downtown Detroit is about 20 mins. Easy access to the airport and the interstate. We heard there was a shuttle that ran from the hotels to downtown every hour, may want to ask about that could have been just for convention. We rented a car at airport ( a shuttle to take you to rent a car and when you drop it off, it will drop you off at your airline terminal.) We had an excellent experience.

This is a great hotel! This is without a doubt the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in, and the maintenance is great also. I would have liked to have paid just a little less for this room, but ir was a great room. The staff was very helpful and the location was great for us.

Stayed at the Courtyard the end of January for a park & fly. Comfortable, clean, non-smoking hotel. Parked across the road at the park & fly before our flight and received coupon from the hotel for 10 days free parking. Worked great for us. Would definately stay there again, but would ask for a room facing away from the highway as the road noise was disturbing. Front desk check-in was excellent.

Hockey Mom Review:

Our recent stay at the Courtyard was for 9 days for two back to back inline hockey tournaments being held in Taylor. We had a few friends staying there at the same time and there were two baseball teams there as well. We had a suite and it was terrific, but so were the standard rooms. They offered free refrigerators for the non-suite rooms on request and based on availability.

The hotel staff is top notch. Housekeeping gets a 10. Front desk gets a 10. Everybody was nice and helpful. They didn't mind the kids but had reasonable expectations that they be in a room by 10pm. They gave me the names of waterparks, helped me figure out which malls were best, provided bug spray when the mosquitos started biting, acknowledged that we were going to be out of our rooms for a couple hours and cleaned them on our schedule, helped with a late checkout when we weren't sure if we were going to advance in the tournament and need the room for another night, helped hook up game systems and even provided an extra tv for our friends when they couldn't get their game system to work, provided extra towels at both the pool and in our room, and were kind and courteous throughout our stay. When I needed a rolloway and they were out of them (sports groups) they got one from the nearby Marriott.

The Courtyard area is completely enclosed and many rooms open out to the Courtyard with either patios or balconies. . It was terrific for the kids and adults too. There were three separate gathering areas and plenty of room for the various groups. One group got a little loud and they were allowed to carry on but only until a reasonable hour when they were simply asked to knock it down a notch...which they did. The kids were able to throw a football around and we had a pizza gathering outside too.

Yes, the planes are noisy during the daylight hours but they never disturbed our sleep. We just got used to having pauses in the conversation.

The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. Thermostats worked well and it was nice to have windows that opened for a breeze.

The Italian restaurant that delivers to the hotel has decent food and delivered full entrees with salads within 35 minutes. Their pizza was good too. Also good nearby is "Beirut". Try their Chicken Schwarma dinner with rice and their baklava. Bob Evans is walkable for simple breakfast and lunch.

So, what keeps me from giving this hotel a 5?
#1 I think that as a guest staying for 9 nights in a pricier suite that they should have included the free weekend breakfast that people paying $99/night were entitled to. The reservation center in Omaha told me not to worry about not booking with the correct "free breakfast code" and that it was free for all Courtyard guests this summer. After much discussion on the first weekend morning, they presented me with a check and told me I could take it up with the front desk. When I told the server that I would pay it and just let corporate know how I felt, she relented and took the check away. I didn't bother with the other two mornings...just ate bagels in our room. I really didn't want to hassle with anyone over it but I was less than pleased.

#2 The sprinkler system comes on automatically every night at around 9:30 and needs to be adjusted to hit the grass and not the guests. The front desk seemed very interested in the feedback and I am hopeful that they will correct it.

#3 Our friend's ground floor suite had a mold problem that could possibly be attributed to the sprinkler issue, but it needs remediation.

I really enjoyed our stay and I would definitely book there again for both individual travel and for a group.

Chose the Courtyard Marriott because of the Park and Fly option - stay for 1 night and can park your car in Airport Parking lot across the road for 7 nights - for $99 US. We had never flown out of Detroit before and this option was great for us. The shuttle brings you back to the hotel after dropping off your vehicle - and the next morning the shuttle will take you directly to the airport from the hotel - leaving every 20 minutes. The hotel was great - we stayed on the first floor and outside of our room was a small area with chairs and a beautiful courtyard in the centre of the hotel. Our girls went for a swim and the pool was very clean and the hot tub very hot. Overall a great start to our vacation ...headed for Orlando!
