Non smoking hotel and our room stunk! At the end of the halls they have couches where the sprinkersystem overhead must be turned off because the windows are wide open and there are butts all over the floor as well as beer bottles. Plaster falling from the ceiling. Elevator works on a whim! Come back from vacation and car scratched across back fender! They take no responsibility and say it never happened...but that same day my friend came back and hers was scraped even worse! STAY FAR AWAY!!! especially if you're a CDN. They offered us a future free night stay and my fender will cost a hell of a lot more than that to fix!

Room Tip: No good rooms - end of the all is the worst!

I never expect much from a Days Inn, I guess, but this was an exception. If you need to stay near the airport, book it. The rooms were VERY clean, everything in good working order, easy to check-in, the restaurant was actually very good, and how often have you seen a bar and grill in a Days Inn? Don't scoff when I say the atmo was even cool. Hotel is totally convenient to the airport and rental car return. You can hear the planes going over late into the night, but I don't think there is a thing in the world that can be done about that. The hotel is nicely updated, but the architecture and the restaurant area made us think this baby has been around since the 50s...which we LOVED. I seriously would hang out in the bar, if I had the misfortune of living right by DTW. Great staff, so accommodating, and again - good food (we had the St. Pat's special of corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes - YUM), well thought-out menu, something for everyone, and a FULL SERVICE BAR open late. Score.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for five days while our truck was in the shop. We have stayed here many times in the past with our dog Heidi and love the staff at wings bar & grill. Unfortunately on our last day here, Bonnie, the general manager ruined our experience. She saw my husband walking our dog and began to harass us saying she was too big to stay here. She added that because she is a border Collie, she is 10 lbs over their limit. We told her we have stayed here many times previous with no problem. She decided to make sure that she charge us $25/day totaling $150.00 for the whole stay even though we did not have the room cleaned. We took our own trash out, replaced the towels & bedding as needed so the cleaning staff did not have to be in the room with us and our dog who is very sweet & loves people. On top of all this, we spent approximately $45 per night for the room & $100.00 per day at the wings bar & grill. Knowing this, I was shocked at the smile on Bonnie's face as she told my husband we would not be able to stay here anymore & was completely rude to us. I spoke with her on the phone and got the distinct impression that she did not care about the kind of customers we are & does not want us to return. So after doing the math...we spent $900.00 here in less than a week and we were treated like crap because our Heidi dog weighs 10 lbs over their policy that we were unaware of since we have stayed here many times in the past. As a fellow united road truck driver, I would urge people to reconsider staying here. We will miss the ladies at wings, they are the reason we kept coming back.

We apologize that you feel that you were treated inappropriately, as that was not what we were trying to convey during your stay with us. Sadly, the rules on the weight of pets and our pet fee are policies that are set in place by our corporate office, and are not something that we have control over changing. If you look on our website, or anywhere else that it is posted that we allow pets, it states that there is a 20lb weight limit for the animal. While we personally have no preference on what weight your animal is, we have to abide by corporate standards. If we allow one pet (who we all agree is very sweet and adorable!) that is over the allowed weight to stay in the hotel, then it would be unfair for us to enforce the weight limit with other animals, causing problems with our corporate headquarters.

After checking our records, the only other time you have stayed at our property since 2013, you paid a per day pet fee. During this other stay, Bonnie was able to negotiate a discounted pet fee with our corporate headquarters. This most recent stay, corporate was not able to offer a discounted pet fee. Even though we understand that you did not have housekeeping service through the week, we are still required by our corporate headquarters to charge the per day pet fee. The reason for this is that corporate requires us to bring in an outside cleaning company at the end of your stay to deep clean the room after any animal has been in it. The more days the animal is there, the more cleaning needs to be done and that is what the per day pet fee is applied to. Our on-property cleaning staff is not paid any differently for your room during your stay, so the day-to-day cleaning doesn’t affect what the pet fee is charged for.

When Bonnie realized that your pet was above the weight allowed by our corporate headquarters, it was her job to make sure that you were aware of that fact. She was not trying to be rude or cause any offense to you, but since you obviously have not been informed of the regulations in the past she needed to let you know. Bonnie was gracious enough to speak with corporate to make an exception to their rule, and we are very sorry if you somehow misinterpreted her attitude as one of not caring about your patronage of our hotel. Bonnie actually put herself at risk of dealing with backlash from our corporate headquarters because your pet was breaking their rules. By making sure that the pet fee was being charged to your room, Bonnie was just covering all of her bases if she was questioned about the incident and it being against corporate policy. Never did Bonnie intend for you to feel that you are not welcome at our hotel, as we would love to have you back at anytime.

If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know.
