“Great hotel...again...but avoid the restaurant”

We have stayed at this hotel previously and will stay again. Our stay over New Years was fantastic - 10 of us shared 3 rooms and all of us enjoyed our stay. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Service from hotel staff was great, and we have no complaints at all.
We do, however, have complaints about the restaurant, the SportsNews Bar & Grill. We have eaten here before a few years ago when we stayed, and although the food was so-so, the service was fantastic. That was NOT our experience this time around. The food remained so-so, but the service was absolutely terrible. Our dining experience took over 3 hours, and considering it was New Years Eve, we were expecting a longer wait. However, our server was incredibly slow despite the restaurant not being very busy, and our bills were wrong - 3 TIMES! We sent them back and they kept coming back wrong, despite trying to correct them over and over. My husband, who never complains, mentioned our concerns to the manager who brushed him off. No apology, and the manager was a bit rude, which was rather surprising.
Definitely worth staying at this hotel, but if you go, avoid the restaurant. It's not worth the hassle.

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Holiday Inn after our return flight. The hotel was new and clean. The kids enjoyed the pool the next morning. The room was nice and clean. The only downside to the room was the lack of a bathtub, there was only a shower. As well, the Quinta shuttles are more convenient. At the Holiday Inn, you have to call for a shuttle and wait, whereas other hotel shuttles run constantly. As well, to go to the airport the shuttles run on half hours instead of constantly or every 15 min. We got the breakfast package and we enjoyed the breakfast.

New, clean, convenient access to the airport and Detroit. The restaurant has a great selection and reasonable prices for an airport hotel. This will be our transition hotel when flying in/out of Detroit.

This hotel was phenomenal! Everyone from the desk clerk, restaurant staff, shuttle driver, and cleaning personnel was polite, engaging and friendly. And I felt safe--which was very important to me. Would DEFINITELY recommend this property!

My husband, daughter and I failed to connect to our flight from Detroit to Providence last January 2013 ,so we were given a hotel with meal voucher at the Holiday Inn Detroit Metro Airport. It was winter and we weren't really expecting much from an airport hotel , however , It was a pleasant surprise because their sports bar restaurant served one of the best rib eye steaks and caesar salads . The hotel reception staff were very accommodating and helpful, with ready toiletries for the asking. they really know how to cater to weary travelers.

Room Tip: choose the rooms near the elevators. Also do not fail to tell the receptionist / operator the time...

Stay here every time I'm in Detroit. Great location for airport and rental car access. Rental car returns right by hotel.

Hotel is very nicely done. Commons areas are amazingly decorated- fresh/ modern/ relaxing.

Room was same- very nice!!

Staff was nice, nothing stands-out, but was nice.

Really no reason to even consider anywhere else.

Visited two nights a few days ago. Excellent dinning for an "express" or upscale for that matter. The salmon was thick cut and on par with a seafood restaurant for $17. I had the included breakfast, there is no breakfast bar, the voucher was for a particular plate (2 toast, 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips and large pile of potato wedges - which were way too salty). If you don't want this then they'll apply the voucher to something else with a $5.50 redemption value, which is $3 less than the cost of the meal (i.e. don't get the included breakfast). AC was powerful, too powerful, at the lowest fan setting it poured directly on the bed and the louvers are fixed. I used the pillows as an air dam as they are no good for anything else, standard HIE fare (read - too thick/soft). I thought it was odd that the towels are stored in the shower but they stayed dry. Be sure the shower door is fully closed and not accidently tapped while bathing or you will have several cups of water on the floor as I did. Loved the continuously heated bathroom that stays warm throughout the night as I keep the room 68 degree while sleeping, the powerful fan can heat the room back up in a minute.
