We loved our bike ride to the light house, my kids thought that was one of the coolest parts of our trip to Hoeft State park. We enjoyed speaking with the volunteer curator, skipping stones out on the beach while we checked out the wreck and enjoying the view from the top.

On the way to Mackinaw? Don't miss this one.
It's a great spot with a nice harbor from the storm.
You typically have the place to yourself and the scenery is beautiful every time.

Right at the end of the paved Huron Sunrise Bike Trail, 40 Mile Point Lighthouse is a great destination. There is a pilot house on the site with a range of navigational equipment used throughout generations of ship travel on the Great Lakes. The lighthouse is surrounded by beautiful grounds and you can tour the keepers quarters and climb the tower. There's even the remains of a shipwreck visible a short walk down to the beach! They don't charge admission, only take donations.

Really glad we stopped here. The lighthouse and keepers house are well maintained and there were helpful folks giving info to enhance our experience.

What a beautiful setting for a lighthouse. You can sit for hours and just dream. The venue has several outbuildings with alot of history to enjoy. A path goes down to Lake Huron to view a shipwreck area. About 35 miles south of Cheboygan right off US 23. If you are a lighthouse lover............don't miss this one!
