“Great Burgers at a great price”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

Great casual place to have a burger or a dog and a beer or a soda pop. Prices are very reasonable and food is always good. May not make Diners Drive in and Dives, but you will get good food at a great price.

“Great neighborhood place to eat/drink, interior needs a face-lift”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

Sandy's by the Beech is THE place in Redford to get great bar food and have a drink with friends. They recently remodeled the exterior and added some outdoor tables, which is very nice, but the inside looks like it hasn't been touched in over 30 years...

Sandy's boasts coney dogs, burgers, fish and chips, french fries, and onion rings that are exactly what you expect from a pub -- a little greasy but VERY tasty -- and they have other dishes on the menu that are very good (my brother's favorite is the sirloin tips). The prices are reasonable, and the servers are all very bright, personable, and good at what they do. I've never had bad service at Sandy's.

This place would get five stars were it not for the old, tired interior. The carpet is old and worn, the tables (which were cheap in the first place) need to be replaced, the chairs with the circa-1970's orange vinyl covers need to go, and it's very VERY dark in there. A fresh coat of lighter paint and some new flooring would make a world of difference.

“Best French Dip”
Reviewed November 7, 2011

I really liked this place. It lived up to my expectations. The French dip sandwich was to die for. Service was great. I would go back again. The only drawback was that they don't except credit cards.

“VERY VERY GOOD BURGER... NOTHING FANCY... SIMPLE HAND FORMED 1/2 LB. PERFECTION. THE BACON IS NOT SOME DRIED UP OVER...”
Reviewed June 10, 2009

VERY VERY GOOD BURGER... NOTHING FANCY... SIMPLE HAND FORMED 1/2 LB. PERFECTION. THE BACON IS NOT SOME DRIED UP OVER COOKED SLIVER OF PORK... IT IS DELICIOUSLY PERFECT.... THE CONDIMENT TRAY IN NOT FILLED WITH A BUNCH OF TRENDY STUFF; JUST THE BASICS... AS IT SHOULD BE
THE OUTDOOR PATIO IS A NICE ADDITION. INSIDE IT SEEMED DARK AND SMOKE FILLED. I PROBABLY WOULD NOT GO BACK IF I KNEW I WOULD HAVE TO SET INSIDE... BUT ON A NICE DAY - I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK. SERVICE WAS TOP-NOTCH AS WELL.
ONE ADDITIONAL NOTE: SANDY'S WAS IN THE DETROIT FREE PRESS "TOP 50 BURGERS". I AGREE!
