“Ocqueoc Falls”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Beautifully redone by the state, the grounds leading to the falls offers something for everyone. It's a wonderful place to swim and enjoy family time. There is plenty of room and the falls are just beautiful.

“Nothing spectacular but worth a visit if you are in the area.”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Michigan is lacking in falls so if you are in the area drop in and if you plan to swim in the pools you'll have more fun. For us it was too cold so we just toured and looked around, pleasant enough.

“The State has ruined another natural wonder”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We have gone to this little known falls for years in the summertime. Once known only to locals and a few of us outsiders, it was a serene out of the way relaxing wild area. The falls itself is small an not worthy of a big to do. It had a gravel parking area for a handful of cars. There was a small path through the woods into a small open grassy area next to the four foot high "falls". It was a great spot to just relax and meditate or get fantastic wild photos. The Department of Natural Resources has now taken it over and suddenly there is a ranger posted at the entrance to take your money. There is a paved 80 vehicle parking lot. Restrooms, wide paved walkways to the open area which is now filled with concrete pads, tables, and charcoal grills. They have built stone "bleachers" at the falls and a several thousand dollar concrete and steel handicap walkway down to the falls along the river. They have placed rocks across the river below the falls to make a swimming area at the base of the falls itself. Completely unsupervised children are jumping off the falls slippery rocks into the water below. (Taxpayers will be paying the injury lawsuits soon I suspect....Then the State will fence it off completely.) There is trash and cigarettes everywhere. There are wide dirt paths worn along the stream to the bridge. The bridge itself is filled with graffiti. Everything is beaten down by the crowds. There is not a chance to get photos of this falls at all if the weather is nice. Relaxing is not a possibility either. I'm sure some will disagree with me and say everyone should be able to enjoy wild areas, but I believe that some areas should be left completely natural and not commercialized just so the State can make a another buck from it. Once the State moves in, the "wild" is gone anyway. I guess it's true...you can't go back. If you like packed tourist areas please feel free to enjoy this "falls".

“Beautiful Scenery”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

These are pretty falls. The falls are located in a great little park and the area was very clean. If you are in the area I would recommend this as a little side trip. Not a spectacular view but beautiful and worth a look.
