We arrived in Port Huron and almost all of the hotels - there are not very many - were sold out. We were able to get a room here. The young man checking us in was nice and gave us the keys....unfortunately, the room was occupied when we opened the door....awkward! I had a long walk back to the desk and he did not even apologize for the error. We had our choice of a room with highway noise or the second floor. They have no elevator and so we chose the noise. It was a tired, two queen room where one bed was literally so soft you could not sleep on it. It had a window air conditioner that worked okay but was very noisy.

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the freeway and remember, no elevator.

We have a large family, so the suite was perfect. Room was very clean and kept despite. The property was well maintained & the staff was very accommodating. The breakfast was kept up well for a lot of people moving through the two mornings we were there. Kids loved the pool & hot tub! We didn't hear any noise from interstate even though the hotel is very close. Great job by this location!

The hotel is old but they have kept up with maintenance. To start the lobby is very big and the front desk was very inviting! The breakfast area was large and stocked with the traditional continental breakfast items? The pool area was clean but the chemicals were very strong and the room lacked any ventilation, making it very hard to breath. On to the room: I will warn you I am very critical because the is the main reason we paid the hotel. The current temp outside was 81f and the room was very humid and hot. Its always nice to walk into a room the is inviting. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer. When we turned on the AC the room filled with a very strong cigarette smell. The bathroom floor was very dirty other then that the room was clean. Given the price and the other choices in the area, I would recommend this hotel.

Thank you for your time in sharing your experience after your stay with us. Thank you for your compliments and I would like to aplogize for the stuffy air in your room & in the pool area. Unfortunely, the compressor had broke down during your stay causing the stuffy air in the pool area. We have ordered a whole new unit for the pool area instead of having the old one repaired. I have spoke with the housekeeping staff reminding them of the importance of having all the rooms the right temperture every day year round no exceptions!! We also are in the process of replacing all the heating & cooling systems in all rooms, we have several of our rooms now with new units already installed. We hope we will see you again soon and that you'll be able to enjoy all the units. Please accept our apology!!

With best regards,

Very clean well equipped comfortable motel. Very pleasant knowledgeable staff. Good breakfast but not much variety and the coffee could be hotter and better quality. we found it a bit noisy at night with banging doors and loud voices in the hallway, plus if you are on the highway side you will get some traffic noise. Very close to Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel restaurants for better breakfast selection or lunch and dinner.

Thank you for your good value review, we are always very happy to see good reviews!! We are disappointed that you were not satisfied with our breakfast selection. We wish we had more information regarding that statement as we do have eggs patties, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, sausage links, biscuits, gravy, oatmeal, cereals, yogurt, danish, bagels, muffins, english muffins, toast, 3 fruits along with milk, juice, tea and coffee. We do have a good quality hot coffee so I will look into why you experienced less than that!! Please be assured that is not our standard. Thanks again for sharing your experience with us and our future guests and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Hotel was easy to find. It is close to the interstate but it was not noisy. Room was clean and bathroom had been updated. Bed was very comfortable. We arrived late because we were traveling and called ahead of time to ask about restaurants still open nearby. We were also worried about parking because we had a horse trailer. Staff was very cordial and helped us with possible places to eat. There was room to park on the road so we were not in the way. We ended up ordering Jett pizza - which was yummy and they do not have in the south We saved the leftovers in frig for cold pizza for breakfast. They did have a hot breakfast but we were up very early and on road for business before it was put out. Just grabbed coffee and fruit.

Room Tip: Do not worry about noise - even though it is close to the interstate. Our room was very quiet even...

Very comfortable. Safe area good walk or bike ride to lake front parks about 3 miles. I would like to stay here again. Good value, great breakfast. About the only negative I found is no elevator but it is only 2 floors. So if carrying luggage up is an issue reserve ground floor but if not available Im sure the friendly staff will give you a hand

This hotel is consistent with the Comfort Inn brand, in my experience: Older hotels that have been spruced up in most ways, but if you look closely, they show their age. The front doors are not automatic sliding types (yes, I've gotten spoiled), so getting through with your luggage isn't as convenient as in newer hotels. It was clean, reasonably attractive, and in good enough shape to be pleasing. The bathroom is of a couple decades old design. No soap dish in the shower, the water flow was weak - but serviceable. It was priced according to its age, so it was a good deal for a comfortable stay.

I slept great. The bed was comfortable, the heater was quiet with no rattles, didn't hear a single sound from other rooms. The only noise I heard was a mild level of traffic noise - my room faced the expressway - an exit ramp is a short distance away from the hotel. I didn't find the traffic noise a problem at all, only people highly sensitive to noise probably would.

The close proximity to the expressway makes the location easy to access.

My only gripe that I had was the desk chair. It had virtually no padding, was too short for the desk, even at the maximum height, and after I adjusted it upward, it sagged back down to the lowest setting within a couple minutes. When I left, I mentioned this problem and received a very good and helpful response. I was shown the new chairs that are replacing the old ones and believe that if I had asked earlier, it would have been resolved (didn't need the chair very long). Hence, this will hopefully be resolved shortly. The TV, by the way, had occasional "stutters" in the program - don't know if that was my TV or the satellite/cable service.

Didn't have a chance to get to the breakfast bar. I had arrived late and slept late (obviously it was comfortable and quiet).

Staff was exceptional - friendly, helpful, efficient.

Room Tip: If you need really quiet, ask for a room on the opposite side from the expressway. Check the office...

Wow SG Illinois,

Thank you so very much for taking so much time and detailing your stay with us. We appreciate so very much the feed back we get from our guests! In reading your review shows us how on track we are with our guests thinking, for instance the front doors not being automatic. We are gathering several estimates on the cost of having automatic doors installed. The soap dish issue has been addressed by us purchasing shower caddies and placing them in all rooms with showers without the soap dish. As to the desk chairs, that was our first and last purchase of those desk chairs, we are very disappointed with our choice. We have purchased a few different chairs this time and are testing out which one we will purchase for all the rooms with desks. In researching the TV issue the occasional "stutters" , must have been an isolated incident with the satellite service, we checked a few rooms and all is good with the new 32" flat screenTV's in all rooms and we had just added a few months back several HD channels. We are just awaiting from our satellite company the final delivery of our digital receivers. You also had mentioned how comfortable our beds are and how quiet the heaters are but we still did just purchase some new heaters and mattresses just because we felt it was time. Thank you again for complimenting the staff, they also read our guests comments and it is a real moral booster for them when they read the reviews, so I can't thank you enough. I do hope your next stay your able to have breakfast, we are so proud of our breakfast area and the selection we provide so we certainly hope your able to enjoy that ammenity on your next stay. Also stay tuned to our new look outside this summer, even though we already painted the outside of our building a few years ago, we have big plans for landscaping our grounds just feel it's time for a change!! We do want to sincerely thank you for taking so much time on reviewing us and we are looking so forward to your next stay with us soon!!
