“Nice Sites, Hairy Showers”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

This is a HUGE campground. With that being said, you didn't feel crowded, if you stuck to your campsite. Try going to any of the public facilities, and it was crowded. ONLY premium sites and main roads are paved. This is okay, but don't coming thinking you'll be parked on concrete. Cable hook up was broken, like someone had driven away with it still hooked to their camper. Leaking water hook up that we fixed with Teflon tape.

I agree about what another reviewer posted about kids--everywhere. I am OK with this, as camping tends to be a family thing, however, the roads and side walks were CROWDED with kids on scooters, roller blades, bicycles, etc. This is very dangerous, even when you are paying attention and driving slowly. NEED MORE VEHICLE-FREE PAVEMENT PLACES!!!!

What GROSSED ME OUT was the HAIR in all of the shower stalls. We OF COURSE wore our shoes in the shower, but it was very difficult to not think about all the hair swirling around you as you tried to get clean. I REALLY think this is a product of a BUSY campground, but honestly, they need to attend to the bathrooms more often.

LOTS to do here and great access to the bike trails, but most things cost a pretty penny. My husband and kids seem to enjoy it, but I think I prefer some of the smaller, local campgrounds.

Just returned home from camping here for the long weekend. If you are a tent camper like us this place isn't really suited for you, they only have a few spaces located in between either trailers or the kabins (it can be a little noisy cause of the trailers). The only other spots available are out in a open field with no electricity/water. This place is huge and there are lots of things to do, our group all had kids but was very disappointed to learn about the charging of money to use the jumping pillow everyday, the staff were like police making sure everyone had a wristband and paid the $3per day per child. Why not if they feel the need to make this extra money just charge at the beginning including it in the overall rate!!! My son loved the inline skating hockey arena area except on day one while playing there was alot of sand on one side of the rink and he took a really bad fall along with several others that I saw that day. I went to the front desk the next day to report it to them and ask them to clean it up but nothing was ever done!!! Disappointed in their lack of concern. The bathrooms were very clean but lineups for the showers everyday, not enough of them considering the size of this place. There is an excellent smooth path rails to trails beside the camp that goes on for miles. Overall this campsite is very much suited for visiting the kabins or bringing in your trailer, I wouldn't recommend this place for tent camping, was very noisy at night time, lots of drunks wandering around trying to cause trouble.

Our family booked 2 lodges and a cabin to enjoy family time with 3 generations - grandparents, our grown children, and 3 toddlers. We used to spend similar 'family time' at KOA when our children, now grown, were young and they loved it so much they wanted to start this tradition with their young families. We all had a great time at Port Huron KOA and had hoped to continue annually until my daughter returned home to a rude phone message of intimidation yesterday from someone who claimed to be Brian, the manager. Strangely, Brian refused to give his last name to my son-in-law when they promptly returned 'Brian's call. The message stated " in reference to the trees that were destroyed.......... Give me a call on my cell phone at ........ If not there will be criminal charges made, you will have a criminal record and you will never be allowed in the United States again". Here's the thing - Brian is using intimidation before even talking with my daughter or any of our group. We did not do the damage to the trees but certainly did notice someone had stripped the bark all around lovely birch trees. As a horticulturist, I noted and commented on this the minute we got out of the car - yes it was destructive and I can understand why KOA would be upset BUT they have no proof we did it and never will because IT WAS DONE BEFORE WE ARRIVED. Perhaps they should point the finger at their staff who were not observant enough to notice this before our arrival. Brian insinuated to my son-in-law that he was lying and stated their was bark in the firepit and it freshly done (by us). We wouldn't know what was in that pit other than a bunch of tin foil left there before we arrived (very observable) because we used the pit between our lodge and the one our other family members had. At no time did we even use the pit. Any certainly NONE OF OUR GROUP DID THE DAMAGE and every one of them, including some family visitors will sign an affidavit stating such. We are responsible family just trying to have some good quality family time - which does not include destruction of property. Our daughter and son-in-law are very upset by this accusation and deserve an apology from 'Brian with no last name' for unfounded accusations, intimidation and an unprofessional approach to dealing with a situation. For newcomers to KOA - BEWARE and have a mature staff member ACCOMPANY YOU TO check property (including in and out of cabins/kottages, before unpacking, and ask they sign a paper outlining anything 'out of the norm'. Otherwise you too may be blamed for destruction made by others.

We stayed on fathers day weekend. Very, very, crowded and noisy campground. Loud music all day from campers who showed zero respect for other campers. Tons of children and teenagers running around with zero adult supervion. Sawmill city which has the go-carts, bumper boats and mini golf is super expensive. NOT my idea of camping. If you like a nice quiet relaxing place to camp do not expect to find it here! I don't think i will be back.

For the last number of years my family and I have "camped" with many of our friends and their families every "May two-four" which in Canada is our Victoria Day holiday long weekend, that falls on the third Monday of May. While we have tented it before, we have only stayed in their Kabins and now more recently the Lodges. We LOVE the Lodges with all the amenities you would typically have at home...beds with linens, 4 piece bath, kitchen with full fridge, stovetop and all the dishes, pots, etc. And plenty more to list! Safe environment, lots of entertaining things to do, pool for swimming, and many friendly campers to say hello to while walking around. We travel for 5 1/2 hrs to this KOA and have never been disappointed with the campground or the crew that maintain the grounds or any inquiry that you might have of them.

Room Tip: Book EARLY if you want a Lodge. While they might be costly to some, they are great when you are tra...

Started camping here in a tent about ten years ago. Now have had three different campers and almost all of our camping trips are at PH KOA. Hard to go anywhere else after you come here. So much to do. Very well maintained. Any problems are always handled immediately and to my satisfaction. They are all about customer service here. They have something for everyone in the family. Can't say enough good things about PH KOA!!

Room Tip: The rustic cabins are very rustic. No bath rooms but the public bathrooms are clean and closeby. Gr...

We have been coming the the Port Huron KOA for 20 years, and while we've always enjoyed the family activities, as our daughter has become an adult and we have grown older, we're looking for a quieter camp ground. Your children will love this campground as there are a lot of activites for them (be sure to bring your wallet, you'll need it). If you're looking for a quiet weekend, away from your busy life, this really isn't the place for you. We stayed there this past weekend, and had to call security because a large party near us was so loud past the the quiet time hours. It has really become a place where a lot of people come to turn their kids loose for the weekend while they party.
