I had heard about The Farm on previous trips to the thumb, but had never gotten around to try it out. While on a little weekend getaway this past weekend, we decided to give it a try and we were NOT disappointed!!! After asking a handful of locals their thoughts, they all said that the food was delicious, but pricey. It is only a 5 minute drive from Port Austin out in the middle of nowhere, not surprisingly, surrounded by farmland. The entrance was very welcoming, as if you were going to grandma's house for dinner, and the "homey" feeling continued inside as well. We were greeted by the sweetest lady ever and was shown our table in the front dining room. We were then greeted by the busser Bryce, who was awesome!! One of the nicest kids we have ever met and really took our experience to the next level, telling us about the farm market in town, what to do, where to go, where not to go, etc. just like he was our buddy. Then came the food, although we get wings wherever we go, these Molten Wings were awesome, the sauce was delicious...a mixture of tangy bleu cheese with a bit of spice. My girlfriend ordered the vegetable strudel and LOVED it, me, not being a big vegetable guy thought it was superb, the mixture of vegetables, cheeses and cous cous wrapped in phylo served over a roasted vegetable puree...YUM!! I ordered Chicken breast with wild mushrooms served over fresh potato Gnocci, which was also delicious. Although we were full, everyone raved about the desserts so we had to go for it. We chose the Bread & Butter Bread pudding with vanilla custard
and brandy raisins which was the perfect ending to a perfect meal, a wonderful atmosphere and an exceptional dining experience. As we were leaving, we met the owner/chef Pam and her husband Chris and thanked them for the wonderful time. We both were very pleased that we decided to try The Farm, and although the locals stated that it was expensive, in comparison to some restaurants back home, the meal, atmosphere, friendly staff (especially Bryce), it was well worth the $63 we spent. We will definitely be back next time we visit the thumb.
