We booked a lot online about three weeks ago. The website doesn't mention there is construction going on with sidewalks, main drive being reconstructed and a large sewer(?) line being installed underground. The bike path has been torn up. The road in is one lane and has to shared with heavy equipment, work pickups going in and out, and rv's, and motorhomes and the road has been torn up and is dirt. It alternates between wet sloppy mud to dust sweeping onto the sites. The heavy construction begins at 7AM sharp! The women's bathroom was closed for long stretches yesterday and today. There is just one regular trash can available for all the sites. Between the dust, noise and heavy equipment running in front of our site all day we've found it's best to be gone most of the day. This campground should have been closed for the duration of the construction. Their website should mention that the construction is going on and the planned completion date

Room Tip: Normally get the row closest to the bay. However right now choose the furthest from the bay to avoid the most noise and dust

I wanted to be close to the lake, right doesn't everybody. When we got there ( 5-6-18) the only road into the camp site was all torn up and on top of it they did not turn on the water until Wednesday. Now they did call and told us the water might not be on until Tuesday, ok but the miscommunication between city workers lead us to Wednesday.
Dump trucks running back and forth all day long etc.
Long story short they should of never opened the camp sites until mid May or later.

Just an old fashioned nothing fancy campground, no heat in the baths or the rest rooms. Only two tv stations because of the location and just passable wifi. Thankfully no dogs this trip as there have been other places. Well worth what they charge.

Room Tip: If your not looking to swim

This place has many pros and cons. This was our second time staying here. You can't pick your own site. You have to take what your given. We booked a full hook up site, got there and the site they assigned us was in the mud. So we opted for a water and electric site that was grassier. We went thrilled about not having a full hook up. The wi fi is terrible unless you are literally right next to the office. The bathrooms are gross. Glad we use our motorhome. Now on the plus side, it's right on Lake Michigan with a wonderful bike/walk path into town. You really just can't beat the location of this park or the low price.
