This place has many pros and cons. This was our second time staying here. You can't pick your own site. You have to take what your given. We booked a full hook up site, got there and the site they assigned us was in the mud. So we opted for a water and electric site that was grassier. We went thrilled about not having a full hook up. The wi fi is terrible unless you are literally right next to the office. The bathrooms are gross. Glad we use our motorhome. Now on the plus side, it's right on Lake Michigan with a wonderful bike/walk path into town. You really just can't beat the location of this park or the low price.

We stay here when we have a limited amount of time to visit Petoskey.

The Positives: a) The location is great, b) The view of the bay is fantastic, c) Reasonably priced and very good for a family on a budget, d) Easy to find Petoskey stones.

The negatives: a) Like most older parks it lacks modern utilities, b) We can never find a 50 amp,, c) Sewer hook ups are just about out of the question; this is ironic since it is right next to the sewage treatment plant, d) Hard to find anyone at the office (You are on your own for the most part).

Advice: Book sites that are numbered; stay away from sites with letters. These are the closest to the treatment plant, the smell is nasty.

Located on the shores of Little Traverse Bay, off of Lake Michigan, Magus P ark is owned and operated by the city of Petoskey, MI. Sites are generous in size, full hookups are available and the staff is friendly and accommodating. There is a 25 mike bike trail through the park.

My daughter and I did not camp at this campground but instead parked there to access their beach in search of Petoskey stones. I had read numerous reviews that stated the stones are abundant and sure enough, we found a lot of small stones at the waters edge. The campground looked very quiet and isolated and is located right on the water. A wide paved fitness path runs along the beach, perfect for runners, roller blades and bicycles. If hunting stones, bring water shoes as it is a rock beach.

This small city owned and run 76 site RV park has full hookups and water/electric sites. First, the good news--Location, location, location. It is directly on the water, Little Traverse Bay. And is you have sites 1-16 you have a great view of the bay.

Another good thing is the Internet. It's fast! At least on our site it was. I measured it at over 10 Mbs. The park is also on the Little Traverse Wheelway-a biking, hiking, walking paved trail between the City of Charlevoix and near the Harbor Springs Airport) on M-119. The park is also very close to historic Petoskey's Gaslight district (easily walkable).

Now for some not so nice things. The park is old and many of the sites are small. If you have a big rig it'll be tight. Add to that the fact that water and electric hook ups are in the middle between two sites and one of the sewer hook ups are not, there's a 50/5 chance that either your water/electric or sewer is going to be on the wrong side of your rig.

There is no cable and the TV reception is spotty at best. One neighbor had only 1 channel, we had 3, and another had 5. Oh, and the park is next to Petoskey's waste water treatment plant. So, depending on the wind and the temperature and your site, you may get a whiff of unpleasantness now and then.

Adding in all of the above, if it wasn't for the location I would give this park a poor to average rating. But again, it's on the water, it's on the Wheelway, it is close to downtown attractions.
