The Gaslight District was a great place to spend part of our day. The shops were all unique and it was hard not to stop in most of them. We love bookstores and Petoskey did not disappoint. We enjoyed the wide variety of wares that were being offered, from jewelry to hand carved items to unique furniture. We toured Traverse City the day before, but we found the shops here to be just a little nicer. The area looks clean and kept up. There may have been a couple vacancies, but overall the place looks healthy. Parking is easy to find and reasonable. If you want to enjoy the waterfront and restaurants, plan on making a day of it.

Excellent shops and a fun village to roam around. Eateries are unusual. Great place to Christmas shop

This is a very nice area near the waterfront in "Downtown" Petoskey filled with unique little shops and eateries. Every storefront is attractive and inviting, with flower planters and hanging baskets everywhere. Once you step inside, friendly staff greet visitors and encourage them to browse. In one shop, we admired the beautiful merchandise but gasped at the high prices of the linens and housewares. In another home goods store, the prices were more reasonable and we bought some items that were on sale and needed at home. We also picked up some coffee from the Life is Good store. Wonderful way to take a stroll at a leisurely pace before or after a meal in town.

Looking for the unusual and creative this it the area. It abounds in artful offerings, cozy bookstores, a gourmet condiments shop, a bountiful shoe and boot store with Stormy Cromer hats galore and even a old style general store to peruse. Take your time and check it all out.

A great getaway for us to enjoy boutique-like shops in a quaint downtown. Staff are friendly and helpful. Access to so many different merchants, including quality dining. We love it!
