We arrived in town on our motorcycles without reservations and randomly stopped at this hotel. What a great discovery!! The front desk staff were courteous and very prompt. The property is extremely neat and well kept. The owners have decorated the entire property with a nice flair.

The pool and hot tub were a great way to shake off the 300 + miles of riding we did that day.

We were offered towels to dry our motorcycles without asking. They didn't have a covered parking area, but we didn't expect that anyway. The price was very reasonable and a great value.

We WILL stay here the next time we travel to Northern Michigan.

We stayed here 9/29/13 for one night because Trip Advisor gave it #1 rated hotel in Petoskey. I think we could have done better.

The room was very clean; bed was comfy; pillows were good. The pool was covered up in plastic (like an old grandma's living room furniture) but they said they would uncover it if we wanted to swim. I never have experienced this before and found it weird and off-putting.

The front staff said that they were there until 11pm and then again not until morning. Glad no emergency came up. While the staff was nice, I didn't feel the warm family type of welcome others did.

Our view onto Little Traverse Bay was nice, but not awe-inspiring.

Breakfast was boring and mediocre. No yogurt; no eggs. Just typical little muffins and cereal. Coffee was terrible, like dishwater. We had to go find a Starbucks to be satisfied.

It is a nice, adequate place to stay. If you want a finer place in Petoskey, I am sure you could find one.

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of Little Traverse Bay.

We booked based on reviews from Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The room was ready early, and the owner, Karen, couldn't have been more helpful. She gave us local maps and directions to the Tunnel of Trees and great recommendations for restaurants in town. The room was immaculate. Anthony Melchiorri on Hotel Impossible would not be able to find anything wrong with the room. No dust, even in the corners or under the bed. Karen told us that she and her husband are planning upgrades of the bathroom counters, among other things. The breakfast was excellent: continental with waffles, oatmeal, quickbreads, pastries, raisin bread, fresh fruit, juice, brewed coffee as well as Keurig coffee. We loved Petoskey and would stay at the Apple Tree Inn again. Every room has a balcony with a bay view.

We stayed one night in two rooms for a short getaway and visit to the Petoskey area. Both rooms were nice, very comfortable and clean. My daughter and I took advantage of an empty (indoor) pool to play with some balls and other toys that were available. Water was a good temperature, unlike many hotels which don't seem to heat indoor pools at all.

Breakfast selection was typical of many continental breakfasts - wafflemaker, various breads and pastries, cereals, fruits, etc. - and was quite good. The breakfast area, however, is very small (and I mean VERY), so you may need to take your food outside the breakfast room in order to eat.

The only negative was one of our rooms smelled like smoke, which it shouldn't since this is a non-smoking hotel. The front desk's answer was an air freshener spray bottle (changing rooms was not an option since the hotel was full). My opinion: any room that obviously smells like smoke should be thoroughly cleaned before any other guests use it.

Overall, a very nice stay. We would stay here again next time we are in the area.

We booked 3 rooms, called 2 days later and let them know we needed Senior rate. We were quoted our new rate. Got there, they would not honor the senior rate, the AAA rate nor the AARP rate. We were told we should have canceled our reservation and re-booked if we wanted the discounted rate... who ever heard of such a thing? We were NOT told that when we called and inquired about this discounted rate.

The Inn is family run, they will not answer questions, VERY independent they are! At check in we saw the coffee in the lobby. We were told one could only get the "gourmet" coffee between 7am and 11am though their list of "amenities" states something quite different.

There was a garage, there were no cyclists there the night we were. It was supposed to rain (and did overnight), we asked if we could park our motorcycles in the empty garage, we were told NO!

When we made the reservation, we were NOT informed the lobby is locked and no one can get in after 11pm so if you plan to stay here and arrive late, you had better re-think making your reservation at this hotel.

They advertise as one of the amenities their "cozy parlor and fireplace". We asked it it could be lit while the group of 6 of us chatted in the lobby at 8pm. We were told no, they do not light the fireplace (which is gas, just a switch) in the summer or fall... we were there in the fall, outside temp was in the 40's!

The Inn has about 50 rooms and were told they were totally booked. The breakfast room sat 16 people... 4 ice cream style tables that sat 4 each. Nowhere to sit to have breakfast. There about 3 tables outside but it was raining! I inquired about the Deluxe continental breakfast.. it was a joke, 1 waffle maker made this thing deluxe. Mostly toast, bagels & doughnut type of things.

The staff (owner I believe) is VERY abrupt and ignores the customers questions. We will never stay here again.

On their behalf, we did all agree the hotel was clean but rooms not very comfortable and were very hot. We liked they were "pet free". They do not have "first class service" as they advertize on their website... quite the opposite.

Room Tip: Ask for your discount rate well ahead of time but you may not get it anyway. Don't expect the...

We had a great experience @ the Apple Tree Inn. The owners were delightful!
Room was meticulously clean everyday. Great beds...continental breakfast .Nice patio.
We had booked at a b&b but were very unhappy very tired establishment ,saggy bed/ tattered linens, peeling paint..light bulbs out.
We got the last available king room for three nites.
Thank you so very much!!!

We stayed here on our bike tour of Michigan. This truly is a family run place. They locked our bike in the garage and helped us with trail directions and maps. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. Just outside of downtown Petosky, there is much to do and see. There are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance, as well as an excellent bike shop almost within sight! Convenient to the Little Travers Wheelway. As a bonus, all rooms have balconies and views of Little Travese Bay!
