Description: Palette Bistro, located on the edge of downtown Petoskey, is a unique alternative in upscale casual dining. The food is innovative and pleasing. A Mediterranean inspired menu that evolves seasonally featuring small plates and rustic brick oven preparations. Complimented by carefully selected wines from Europe, Michigan Craft and Belgian Beers. The restaurant offers two floors of seating with stunning views of Little Traverse Bay, intimate lounges and al fresco dining.

My fiancé and I were in Petoskey for a wedding, and we had heard of this restaurant from friends. After a warm evening walk through town to the west bluff overlooking the bay, we entered this restaurant with its modern, warm, and inviting decor. After being greeted by the friendly hostesses, my fiancé and I were informed that our table was still being occupied by lingering guests. Not to worry, as we were invited to have a drink and an appetizer at one of the tables in the bar area, where the decor could've been taken directly from a design magazine. A few minutes later, we were brought to our table adjacent to one of the big picture windows overlooking the Little Traverse Bay, with the sun setting. Our meal was wonderful (fresh fish, risotto, and homemade desserts), and our server, Shannon (for whom apparently a drink was named), was very professional and a joy to have.

The cocktails were well balanced and delicious, and the menu selections, ingredient quality, and presentation would be competitive in any major city. The Palette Bistro has that special combination of ambiance, service, and gastronomical quality that is in a class rarely found outside of a major metropolitan area. In a small town such as Petoskey, it is the top notch.

An excellent view, excellent service, amazing food, wonderful, local craft beers, what more do you want? Even little things are excellent like the starter breads with flavoured amazing olive oil and 18 year old balsamic. All 5 of us thought our food was excellent, meat done perfectly and the best pork chop my dad said he's ever had! (my mother glared after that! LOL)

Seven of us came here to eat lunch during Restaurant Week and we all enjoyed our selections. The main dining room was surprisingly small with not that many tables, but the view overlooking the lake and waterfront was beautiful. There seems to be a second level with outdoor seating but it was closed when we were there. Our server was very helpful, courteous and attentive. A very enjoyable experience and a nice way to wrap up our trip up to Petoskey.

We actually ate here twice while on vacation recently. We opted for small plates both days except for my husband who tried the morel menu special the second time. Of their options we tried the liver and onions, scallops, goat cheese and olive tart, polenta with sausage and the margarita pizza. Not a bad dish out of the bunch. We did have dessert each night. The creme brûlée and hot pudding were the favorites.

Parking may be difficult during busy times. Be sure to make reservations if you want to be assured a table.

our family had lunch there and was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem. We didn't expect to have a view of the bay and Lake Michigan but their dining area is oriented nicely to see out over the highway with a great view. They had a good lunch menu and the food was very good. We tried the pulled pork sandwich, Caesar salad, fried egg BLT (the best of our order) and the Margarita pizza. all were good. we'll have to go back during the summer months to try dinner as the menu is more expansive for dinner.
