Wow! If they held a gun to my head at least I could explain why I left with an empty wallet. When the ravioli appetizer came, all we could do was laugh at the 2 half-dollar size portion for $11.00. The chicken dinner for $28.00 was dry, tough and came with a small scoop of mashed potatoes and 3(yes, I still can't believe it) green beans. Wake up Chandler's, the dining experience should be pleasurable instead of an upsetting rip-off.

What a disappointment. We have eaten there before when they first decided to become a restaurant along with a wine and cheese store. They tried much harder then. Went there for breakfast and were treated as if we were an intrusion. There was some type of 'event' in the back part of the restaurant. All the kitchen personnel and wait staff just left. When we were able to get someones attention, were told it was nothing. However, we waited for 20 minutes before anyone came back to cook our meal. Additionally, when the meal arrived the potatoes were burned beyond description and the waitress acted surprised. Never once were we apologized to for the wait or given any type of compensation. I believe their reputation for 'fine dining' has outweighed their ethic of 'fine service'.

My wife and I had dinner with another couple last night and the entire dining experience was outstanding! From sushi to salad/soup and then lamb, scallops and hebi, the portion sizes were perfect and very tasty indeed. This is a cozy northern Michigan restaurant with a lot of charm, ambience, expertise in the kitchen and friendly, attentive and knowledgeable servers. The wine list/cellar is one of the better you will find in Michigan when it comes to variety at a fair pricing. There are seating options from the smaller main restaurant, the wine cellar and the patio in the summer months. The restaurant clearly has some of the better menu variations in the area and is worth the money if you are interested in a dining experience and not just a quick meal. Chandler's is a favorite of many locals in the area and we drive about 45 minutes each way on a somewhat regular basis to dine there. We strongly encourage you to dine at Chandler's when you have the opportunity to do so. The Friday night bar scene can have 10-15 regulars there so ask to dine in the wine cellar if you want a quieter experience.

This restaurant should be marketed as a bistro at best the prices are way out of proportion for the food you recieve. The foood was seasoned properly, but it was very mono-cromatic, all brown and beige colors. The food was extremely simple, wonder full if you expected that type of food. To top it off my foie gras was almost carred and crunchy on the outside, not very palaitable. The servers all had hooded sweatshirts and when we recieved our cheese plate there wasn't even a explanation to which chese was which. However when we ate at Piersons in Boyne Mountain the experince was far better. Good service and great foood.
