We played the Blackshire course first while on vacation. The staff was nice enough to get us out before a big outing started. This is a challenging course and it clearly gets A LOT of play. Good grief, the greens were a mess. It appears that no one repairs ball marks anymore. One group all hit into us and a ball missed our cart by about 5 feet. No etiquette at all, which was found all day at this course. Extremely undulating greens give very few straight putts and the well designed holes challenge even the best golfers. We enjoyed this course, but don't know if I would return. It was not really anything special but then again, we were looking forward to The Gailes.

Most of the previous reviews have it fairly straight. This is a spot for pure golfing enjoyment. Without the golf, there would be no reason to stay. The accommodations are very dated, although it is clean. However, the golf is absolutely spectacular. The Gailles and Blackshire are challenging, yet rewarding courses to play, and visually stunning. It was nice to play each one three times and see the improvement in my score, as I got a chance to know the course. The Seradella is a wonderful course, challenging, but similar to what I play normally, so not as interesting. All three courses are in excellent shape, which is saying a lot given the drought we were in at the time. Fairways were lush, greens healthy and very challenging.

We paid $421.00 for 4 nights, 8 rounds, 4 breakfasts and dinners, and I really don't know how they manage to survive. The food was adequate to good, the upcharges were fair. I had prime rib one night, and it was actually quite good.

Echoing an earlier comment, it is primarily a male destination and behaviour was suspect at times. However, you get what you pay for and if you want a more gentle environment, you'll have to go to a more posh place. Lakewood shores is a good deal for the money.

Lakewood Shores Resort is great place for anyone who loves golf.

They have three courses there...Saradella, Blackshire, and The Gailes. All of the courses were very well maintained and in great condition.

The accommodations which are located about a quarter mile from the main building were average and dated, but were clean and well maintained. This is not a luxury resort, it is more or less a place to sleep between golf games.

The dinners there were excellent. We were on a dining package and we did have to pay some upcharges for certain menu items which were minimal and well worth the $2 to $4 extra.

The staff were all excellent, friendly, and helpful.

Althought the accomodations were average, they were more that adequate as we spent more time on the golf course than in the room.

If you love golf then Lakewood Shores is a great place to go.

DON"T GO!!! Not female friendly. My husband and I went there for a get-away. Nothing but drunken, rowdy groups of men. Overnight fist fights, beer cans on the lawn every morning. Golfers started at 9:00am with beer on the carts. RUDE. I was the only female at the Resort. The room was not very clean. Food was OK. Nothing else to do there.

A challenge to say the least. A great up north golf course that can be played on the inexpensive side as they always are offering discounts for golf and lodging.
