Excellent destination. Love the peacefulness and wildlife. Gorgeous landscape. Excellent hiking. The DNR cabins are fantastic to rent in the park. The town is nice and friendly people.

We couldn’t decide which to stay at so we stayed at both. The 1 mile hike into Speakers was lovely and felt like an adventure. The cabin was clean and cozy and we loved the remoteness. We enjoyed our private beach. It was so peaceful and idyllic. What a view for the sunsets!! We were sorry to leave and wished we booked it for 3 nights, but then we hiked the easier 1 mile hike in to White Tail. Here, instead of a peaceful beach, waves were crashing onto large slabs of granite - what a thrill to just sit and watch! It was a totally different experience and we were very glad we’d made time to experience both. We are 72 and 64, and the hike in to these cabins was very doable and so worth doing!!

Do not miss, be sure to go to the Welcome center in the park, or as we did due to off season, stopped at the Ranger station...got some good tips for our trek around the park. Falls, trails, the Summit Peak is a lovely walk. Only saw deer and a few chipmunks/squirrels....absolutely a must do!!

You could spend days here and still need to come back for more. Must see... Lake of the Clouds, Escarpment Trail, Union Spring, Presque Isle River waterfalls. Everyone we met there was really happy and nice, probably because they loved being there!

WE visited the "Porky's" to see the fall colors and were not disappointed. This is an absolutely beautiful part of not only the UP, but the entire Midwest. There is adequate parking and hikes varying from very short, to all overnight backpacking. If you are looking for a place that offers beautiful overviews to see the fall foliage, this is the place to go. All roads are well maintained. The trails are well marked, and there is a wide variety of activities to choose from. You do not have to be a rugged outdoors man to enjoy this park.
