A very nice New Year's eve experience away from home. Prompt service with a reservation made in advance. Super attentive and helpful waitress, Trista. Great menu selection. All of our choices were very tasty.

Entire restaurant is non smoking which is great. The menu was typical of the chain and the service was friendly and fast.

The Outback Steakhouse in Novi has no consideration whatsoever for customers with disabilities. My husband has been in a wheelchair for the last 7 months with complications from a not so recent surgery. He is totally non-weight bearing and is not permitted to bear any weight on his left foot.

For the second time in the last 7 months we have been offended and embarrassed by the actions of the employees of the Outback of Novi, MI.

During our first visit they asked my husband if he couldn't just get out of his chair and sit in a booth. Really who would do this to someone in a wheelchair. He was so embarrassed that he managed to get out of the chair, crawl into a booth and sit with his leg down and in pain for our entire dinner. Someone from the restaurant took the wheelchair and did not tell either my husband or myself what they had done with it. When we were ready to leave I had to search for the chair which was put in an employee's closet. Getting Mike back in the chair put him directly in the path of everyone who was coming and going in and out of the kitchen.

Our second experience which happened just hours ago we walked in to Outback it didn't seem like there was much of a wait and the hostess asked us how many people would be in our party. We told her the number and that we needed to sit at a table. The hostess gathered the appropriate number of menus and was just about to walk us to a round table that was suitable for our party, when suddenly another employee said you cannot seat this party there. You can find somewhere else for them to sit. I nicely told this employee that the round table was suitable for our party, it was out of the way and not in the direct path of every single person coming in and out of the kitchen. This employee was bound and determined that we would sit somewhere else. She actually asked another party to move and asked to sit at a table that was half booth and half table. She mentioned to me how she asked other diners to move so we could have this table which was once again in the direct line of every server once again.

I told the employee that this was the second time that we were treated rudely trying to be seated in this restaurant. It was embarrassing and rude the way we were treated.

The manager of the restaurant came over to our table and asked if she could join us for a moment. She explained that a member of her family was in a wheelchair and that in the future if we were going to visit this restaurant could we call ahead and let them know we were coming in with a wheelchair. REALLY. Due to reasons that I don't care to explain we eat out almost daily right now. Unless we are going someplace very special or dining out with a large party I have never felt the need to call ahead and let them know we are on our way with a wheelchair.

To make matters even worse the manager mentioned that she would buy our entrees due to this unfortunate experience. You would think this would be done discreetly oh no. I had asked for separate checks when we were seated. When the check came everything was on one bill the waitress proceeded to tell everyone at the table that the manager had picked up the tab for our entrees. Since we had arrived first at the restaurant our friends had no idea what had taken place prior to us being seated. We had to rehash the whole horrible experience.

This Outback had very pleasant staff on a busy Friday night. We called ahead but still had quite a long wait after arriving. We enjoyed the appetizers: cheesy fries and coconut shrimp right away as we were really hungry. The loaf of bread was great. It's the great food that keeps them so busy.

Very tasty Australian themed food. The coconut shrimps are really good. The steaks are great too. The only trouble is you get too much.
