“Wedding Bliss”

Mill Race Historical Village
Ranked #2 of 19 things to do in Northville
Attraction details
Reviewed September 25, 2013

I had the privilege of photographing a wedding here this past weekend and I have to say it was a very cutesy place. Everything is decorated in an old fashioned theme. The ceremony was in a little white wedding chapel which was pretty cool! The grounds of mill race village are very cool with a few different types of buildings which make great backdrops for any type of picture. It was a very cool experience for me. If you have some time and want to transported back to a different time check it out and it only takes about 20 minutes to walk through.

I had read the reviews and thought this might be a good stop for me while my husband was working in the area.

First off, if you are coming from the north off of Griswold St, there is no signage. Turn right just across from Butler St. I'm sure that if they are open, (M-F 10-1) with docents and the buildings open, it would be better. However, I arrived a bit after 2, and although you can walk thru in a matter of minutes, I thought I would take some photos. The buildings were moved there in the late 1970's.

It was nice, but not too exciting with all the buildings closed.

I used to be a docent there! It's a delightful collection of historical buildings, well kept by volunteers, well used for weddings, parties, local meetings, located in town, by the creek, plenty of parking. A quiet respite. Come see it!

Mill Race is an adorable little section of Northville that's easy to get to and walk around. If you go at the right time of year you can catch a lot of high school seniors getting some senior pictures taken. It's free to get into and has little descriptions in front of the old houses, chapel, school house, etc. It'd worth a visit if you want to revisit part of old time America.

Mill Race village is a nice quaint place to visit if you are in Northville. It may not merit a trip to Northville just for this - however, if you are in Northville already it's definitely worth stopping by.

There's a good variety of authentic buildings to see ranging from church, school residence to blacksmith. It's also located next to a nice park and within walking distance to downtown Northville.
