“The view from the top of the lighthouse is amazing!”

We decided to drive up the Leelanau peninsula based on an article we saw about an apple farm in Northport. After picking up some apples, we figured why not catch the lighthouse too. To tour the lighthouse there was a $4 per person donation. We were so impressed by the restoration work that had been done. The interior rooms with the the period furnishings were quite impressive. Of course, then came the spiral stairs leading up and the ladders taking you to the top. It was a pretty windy day so the lake carried whitecaps and waves like an ocean.

Congratulations to the volunteers and donors of this fantastic place. Thank you for your all of your efforts so that the rest of us can enjoy this!

My family went during their "Haunted Lighthouse" weekend. It's a beautiful lighthouse on beautiful grounds. You do have to pay to get into the State Park (unless you have the passport), and there is an additional fee to go through the lighthouse. I thought the beach with all the rocks and stones was beautiful and was able to get some unique pictures of my toddler playing with them.

This is a relaxing, beautiful place. They had a great collection of photographs of dozens of MI lighthouses. As usual the volunteers who work there are very friendly.

Travelling along M-22 we made the drive north to the state park and lighthouse, lovely drive in a autumn months with the leaf cover. If you already have a Michigan state park pass you'll get into the park for free although if you wish you visit inside the lighthouse you do have to pay. We didn't go inside but still had a lot of fun taking photographs, walking around and visiting the beach. I didn't notice the smell or dirtiness that other reviewers are mentioning with regards to the beach and we were down there climbing around for a while although it is rocky.

First, be aware you have to pay to get into the state park and a separate admission to get into the lighthouse. But well worth it. Lighthouse was decorated Halloween which we found to be unique. View from the top is well worth it. The tour of the lighthouse was impressive to see how they lived by then. Property is well maintained by the State and worth the drive. The beach was not the best but that is because the lake level is down. They have a chart in the lighthouse showing this. So much for global warming!
