After hearing about how great this place was, we made sure we went out of our way to have dinner here while on our Fall Color Tour. After waiting almost an hour for a table on a Saturday night, we get seated. Our server is wonderful however getting our food was a slow process and when our over priced, McDonald's thin patty sized burgers do arrive they are so charbroiled and burnt you just lose your appetite at this point. So after 2 hours into this little dinner adventure, and a couple of so-so quality beers and 1 double the normal price for a souvenir pint glass we head back to the hotel. Also to go to the Brewery you have to purchase an $11 State Park pass if you do not have one on your vehicle because it's in the parking lot of the Falls. The parking lot, by the way if you leave in the dark.... is dark... pitch black with no lights which was a nice ending to our evening there on a cold, rainy night and leaving hungry.

We have eaten here twice and haven't been disappointed yet. The menu has many choices; with a children's menu also. There is a brewery on site, too. Food is served quickly with a smile. Staff is very friendly & personable. Prices match proportions. Outside dining is available seasonally.

When we are on vacation in the U.P. we make a point of stopping here at least a couple of times. Of course after seeing the falls, dinner here is a no brainer, but even after seeing other things in the area like the Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum, we always make our way back to this place for dinner. The broiled whitefish is melt in your mouth delicious. It is also served a couple of other ways including beer battered which is also very tasty. We have sampled many other things on the menu including a delicious pasta dish with wild mushrooms, pesto, and parmesan cheese which is extremely tasty. Great appetizers and deserts as well. Make sure to try the berries of the forest pie. Tastes like the berries were fresh picked. And lets not forget the beers. They always have at least 4 on tap, and this year's Black Bear Stout was exceptional. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate in the finish. Awesome. In the past they have had a raspberry ale and a blueberry ale which were both refreshing and tasty, and this year they had a cherry wheat ale that was excellent. Real solid pale ale and lager as well. Great food, great beer, and a real up north atmosphere that feels like a huge log cabin with a great view of the forest. You can sit in the dining room or at the large bar which is what we did one night just for a change and it was great. Friendly service and an all around great experience every time we go there. Can't wait to get back.

This restaurant is located adjacent to the parking lot of the upper Tahquamenon Falls. It was highly recommended by locals in Newberry as well as on T.A. and it deserves the accolades it receives. We ate here as part of a trip around the U.P. and were surprised by the level of quality of both the food and beer selections at this establishment. They had several house brews to please any pallet and a good selection of food which properly represented northern Michigan. Both my wife and I thought the Whitefish Chowder was great.

The restaurant has a large outdoor seating area where people can choose from a small selection from the kitchen at a separate window. You can also go inside to the main bar and get a beer then come back out and enjoy the beautiful woods while you wait for your table, which we did as well. Many people choose to do only this and since this area is also open to all park visitors, it can be very crowded.

A few tips; If its a busier day, get on the wait list before you walk to the falls. This could save you a several hours wait if you intend to eat and see the falls. If a large group of you is going, try to take fewer vehicles. The restaurant is located within the state park and you must therefore pay to enter the park. If you are going for just the restaurant you must still pay the full annual park pass ($11.00) to get in if you do not have one already. There is no mention of this until you get there so it can be a bit of a surprise.

We stopped at Tahquamenon Falls during a weekend color tour. I knew the falls were kind of in the middle of no where and we are foodies when we travel - I didn't have high hopes for what we would find to eat on this portion of our trip. A colleague mentioned there was a brewery/restaurant right at the falls. So, for convenience and love of beer sake we gave it a try without high expectation that it would be anything other than a tourist trap with high prices and lackluster product.

The Falls were pretty busy this weekend being the last weekend of peak color. We had a proposed 45 minute wait (but just as long or quite longer to drive and find someplace else to eat). We sat at the bar and had a beer and an appetizer to kill time. I had a stout and my husband had a peach wheat. Both were very good, as was our appetizer. 30 minutes later we decided we wanted to have our next beer outside by the fireplace - just as we got up our table was ready. Less time than proposed - always a good thing.

My second stout ordered was quite flat - and I heard them yell as we were leaving after dinner that they were out of stout so I imagine I just had the bottom of the barrel. Our food was absolutely delicious. We were pleasantly surprised. We both ordered some cut of steak - and both were cooked as ordered - tender and juicy. Everything else was delightful as well. We agreed it was one of the best meals out we have had in some time. Our waitress seemed a little frazzled and was obviously oversat - they were VERY busy and appeared understaffed. She was pleasant and apologetic each time and it didn't bother us at all because we were truly enjoying ourselves.

We'll definitely try this again next time if ever we go again. I had heard mixed reviews of good food/bad beer - bad beer/good food. I'll be curious as to what we find next time...but this time was fully enjoyable.
