We made a reservation by phone speaking with the owner at the Lake Country Inn. We informed him of the room we wanted which was available and asked for a confirmation number. He informed me that it was not necessary to give a confirmation number "because we only have 9 rooms". When we arrived and called the number that was at the desk to check in, this owner informed us that he was full and he did not know anything about our reservation. He stated he did not know what happened but the inn was full. He denied talking to us and would not even give us a suggestion as to where we might find a room for the night. He was rude, almost yelling that he could not accomodate us. Be careful when you book that you get a confirmation number or you might not have a room waiting for you!

This occured with the prior owner who did all reservations manually on paper.

Our reservation system is web/computer based and you will recieve email confirmation on your reservation or cancelation. System does not allow a room to be double booked.

We went to Lake Country the end of January when it was freezing cold and in the middle of a snow storm! But that didn't stop us! We knew we wanted to go to New Buffalo, a small quiet town with great restaurants and a great lake shore view (summer AND winter!).

We traveled via Amtrak and the New Buffalo stop was near the inn (two blocks away). But when we got off the train it was cold and there were snowflakes the size of grapes! It was windy and we couldn't see a thing! Suddenly, as we started heading in the wrong direction, a man got out of his car and asked us where we were headed. It was Rick! The owner of Lake Country Inn! Knowing we'd walk in a snowstorm when we arrived, he waited for us at the Amtrak stop and drove us to the inn. So hospitable. So nice.

Lake Country had a wonderful tower suite that had a fireplace, and a great corner view of the downtown area. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was brand new... everything was stunning and comfortable. Sitting by the fireplace in our room was a nice treat for our winter stay. Every morning we had breakfast pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, and tea waiting for us. Rick gave us keys to not only our room, but the front door of the inn as well to come and go as we please. We knew he was only a phone call away and was not intrusive at all. We will definitely stay here again. We loved it! A+++

We loved our stay at Lake Country Inn and would highly recommend it!

We flew in very late into Chicago and the owner had to drive over at 1am to let us in. He was very nice and accomodating and gave us a more convenient and larger room on the first floor.

The decor is modern, high-end. Loved the spa-smelling soaps, shampoo! The room came with a continental breakfast- juice, coffee, fruit. Definitely stay here!

Hosted a family reunion here for a group of 25 from 8 to 80 years old. Received many favorable comments about how everyone felt so comfortable that it was much like staying in our home, not like a hotel. Rick, the owner, was always available but so unobtrusive you hardly noticed he was there, but the coffee and pastrys were always on time and any other detail that came up was taken care of immediately. The Four Seasons Room was a perfect gathering place and the back porch and Lobby also gave places for smaller groups to catch up. Because most rooms have only one bed we had to do some creative room assignments and Rick was very helpful and cooperative with that. But the rooms are really the highlight of this place-bright, cheerful, colorful and nicely decorated with features such as fireplaces & porches that are not found in most hotels.

Absolutely Fabulous! When you walk into the "Mango" room, you feel like you have left the midwest and are somewhere tropical. A peek into the "Blue" room on the 2nd floor, has a very "Ralph Lauren" East Coast feel. The owner is delightful and unintrusive. If you are tired of the big hotels and are looking for a more personal experience - as if you were staying with a relative, then you ABSOLUTELY must stay here. I enjoyed spending time in the 4 seasons room reading in front of the fireplace.
