“Fun public beach close to fun small town!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

Like with any public beach there are both positives and some negatives. I think over all this is an excellent and fun beach experience. Here are my top positives and the negatives that I have found.
POSITIVES:
- Large public Lake Michigan beach
- Fun walking paths up mid-sized dunes (kids and adults love them)
- staircase up the dunes with fantastic views
- A popular rock pier that goes into Lake Michigan that can be climb on (at your own risk of course)
- Many miles of beautiful lake front walking (there is a sign at the end saying it private beach) but you can walk at the water edge for miles if you wish)
- very family friendly
- nancy snack bar right at the beach
- walking distance to town if you want to shop or restaurants - very nice SMALL town
- right next to the Marina - great boat watching
- paddle boats for rent
- playgrounds for kids

NEGATIVES:
- rocky at the water edge - this is a pain - there is nice sand to sun on but at the water edge it is VERY rocky!
- parking at the beach is 10 dollars - you can park in town and walk 3 blocks for free
- small bathrooms, but very clean
- the walking bridge to town is only on one side and can get very busy during holidays (not a major issue, but can be frustrating

“Pristine and Pretty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

I loved how clean this beach was...considering that it is a public beach. It was relatively uncrowded and the people were well mannered and polite. We had a great time...Only complaint was the lifeguards and the need for them to be a bit more attentive.

“Nice clean beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2014

Although I had to pay $10 for parking, it was a nice clean beach. You cannot bring alchol or glass on the beach otherwise beach patrol takes it away. You can rent wave boards at the beach for $20/hour.

“Small”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

Small and costs to park $10 and will re charge if you leave and come back. Most walk there from near by. Not a beach I would chose to drive to

“Make sure to wear water shoes!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2014

The beach was littered, to many bottle caps, trash and cigarette butts to count. There were so many small stones you definitely needed water shoes otherwise you would cut your feet. Go early to avoid paying for parking or walking a mile to get to the beach. Over all this is not the most "user-friendly" beach.
