We recently returned to The Stray Dog for the first time since the 2012 fire and it was even more charming and inviting than our last visit. It's such a quintessential beach restaurant; can't imagine a more perfect setting and the decor has really been improved upon - it's wonderful! We arrived on a Sunday evening around 5:30 and there were so many people waiting, we were shocked since it was just a Sunday night. We were told it would be at least an hour wait, but they text you when the table is ready, which enables you to walk around cute New Buffalo if you want while you wait. My husband and brother-in-law elected for drinks in the rooftop bar area while my sister and I walked around with the children. The rooftop goers definitely had the better time ;) as they said the service was friendly and the cold beers were great in a lively fun setting. As for our dinner itself, it's as I remembered... the food is good, nothing wrong with it, but really nothing really special. We all agreed that the main reason we like this place so much is really the atmosphere. One thing to note, is be prepared for a very loud time, especially on a busy night.... the noise really echoes inside the building, much louder than any other place we've been, but that's to be expected and it doesn't deter from my positive feelings about this charming place.
