“Real creative cuisine for a very soft price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

Creative, surprising, wonderful fresh ingredients, most of which came from the fishing harbour we overlooked during the meal (some choices were not available, a reality for fresh ingredients). The kitchen is shared with that of the starred restaurant next door. It shows in the creativity of the food and the finish of the plates.
The prices are those I am used to pay for an everyday food joint.
Beware though, it is a great everyday restaurant, not the starred restaurant next door. It should be enjoyed as such. But you'll probably never find an everyday restaurant with that level of cuisine any time soon.

“Who'd have guessed this was another half of a Michelin * restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

Just had a very average meal - we have been to La Marinaire before. V busy at this busy port /sailing village, but food was pretty under welming. There was just no taste or depth to the food flavours - although the local cheeses and oysters were great.

Their strap line 'cooking of yesterday with the taste of today' must mean we are all used to bland food - which we are not!

Manic waitress also made the evening less than perfect - but the puddings were great. A bit disappointing and now off our island list. Needs to do better.

“A restaurant with a real cook. Excellent quality for price paid.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

Home-made food, with good and fresh local produce, casual service, very reasonable prices, a nice dining room (only 2 tables have a view on the harbour, but the dining room itself is well designed and decorated). The menu and wine list are short, but this is good news as everything is really under control by cook and management, and excellent. Only drawbacks: meals'sizes are rather small (we sometimes left the restaurant being hungry) and the service seems to be understaffed, with only 3 waiters for 20 tables. They do their best but often end up running everywhere. Sometimes waiting for meals is a bit long.

“simple but tasty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2012

good atmosphere on the port. Apparently same owners of the starred La marine next door a simple but very fresh menu and we enjoyed the meal a lot and did not tax the budget too much.
worth a visit.
