“Such a beautiful place”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

This really ancient building has been beautifully restored to become a glorious characterful hotel with all mod cons. The staff are all delightful and friendly, the food is delicious and the rooms are all individually decorated and very comfortable. We had a "superior" ground floor room and our en suite had it's own door to the outside!
Only 5k from the coast it is an ideal base to explore the Normandy beaches
Would really recommend this place

Visited this hotel for both pleasure/business. This is ideal hotel to visit with the wife or to really come back from office environment and being able to prepare next day meeting in a relaxing environment.
Ideal starting place to visit Dday sites + only a c 20mn drive from city center of Caen. Very historical/old style and romantic but still comfortable rooms with everything in place what you need.

Restaurant of the hotel is a big plus. "A must" to try the gastronomic menu.

My next visit to Normandy, no doubt,...I'll be going here.

From its grand entrance, beautiful courtyard to its elegant rooms and helpful staff, our stay couldn’t have been better. Our Room at the very top of this chateau gave us a nice view of the surrounding country. The beamed ceiling, comfortable sitting room, and the warm well equipped bathrooms made one feel like a Royalty, so much so my wife refers to it as her Castle. The old world furnishing and magnificent king bed added a special comfort to our stay. The location is ideal for touring the Normandy area, the Battle fields of WWII, to the Century’s old Bayeux Tapestry or just driving though the country side enjoying the villages and narrow lanes of history.

We stayed two nights with three kids and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The restaurant is excellent with lot of apple, pork and Calvados themed dishes.

We actually slept in the new block half a mile down the road that is very well converted n equipped.

Room Tip: Rooms in the new block are all new and cheaper than the main hotel

We booked two nights here in April 2013 and decided to stay for an extra night on the spot since we just fell in love with the place. The rooms are unique and very clean in their historical setting. The whole hotel immediately makes you feel at home. We enjoyed a brilliant breakfast every morning that left nothing to the imagination, as well as dinners that were out of this world. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

We have just returned from this very lovely Hotel. We stayed in Room 21 which was in the main part of the Hotel. It backed onto the rear garden and was on the first floor. It was small but cosy, had a colour television and tea making facilities. The bathroom again was small but adequate with a bath and shower.

Breakfasts were very good with an amazing array of things to choose from, all freshly prepared...wonderful croissants!.

Dinner was served in the dining room which has a lovely ambiance. We were on a `package` so had the 29.50 euros menu, starter, main course, cheese or dessert. We drank the house wine which was quite honestly better than any we have tasted! Pre dinner drinks can be taken in the bar with its log fire or in the dining room, also with its log fire, canapes are served with pre dinner drinks.

Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, the only thing that let this beautiful hotel down was the dreadful weather we experienced, it was such a shame as this was a special occasion for us.... this was not the hotels fault!!! it was so very cold and windy!

The hotel is within easy reach of many lovely towns and beaches and all the museums in the area.

We hope to return again as soon as we can and order good weather this time!!

We stayed here in mid March with some friends. This is one of my all time favorite hotels! it was a great value as well, If you are looking for charm this is the place. we felt like we had traveled back in time, but with all the modern conveniences. the rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the staff were so helpful and nice. We can't wait until we can return. NEXT TIME WE WILL STAY LONGER.
