A very good place to break a journey. Excellent food and wine and very good value for money. The rooms across the road are spacious, well-appointed and quiet. The ambience is well judged by the efficient and friendly staff. We enjoyed our two stopovers here very much indeed. Thank you to all concerned

This was a stop off on the way from Portugal to the UK - we are so glad we went here and it is bound to be a favourite from now on.
We did not book half board as the menu seemed a little limited and so we opted for the €48 menu. I gave up at the sweet as I was full - they didn't charge for that, which was good of them. The food was absolutely excellent and the service could not have been friendlier. We were greeted with such warmth that we felt at home straight away. We stayed in the house opposite the restaurant - the rooms were comfortable and typically French. The bathroom and room was clean without being pretentious. We ate outside in the small garden - the atmosphere was relaxed. The wine list was really extensive and had a large selection of local wines. The sommelier had a very good knowledge and pointed out some interesting wines to try.
Really worth a detour.

We always use this hotel when we are in the Loire Valley. It is in a charming little village and has the most wonderful restaurant. The food is beautiful and fresh. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. Always a very satisfying experience. We look forward to our next visit

We wanted a hotel in this general area of the Loire region, for 2 nights, and picked this hotel based mainly on its Tripadvisor reviews; we were not disappointed - in fact, just the reverse, it exceeded expectations.

The hotel public rooms are in one building, with the majority of the bedrooms in a separate building, which is where we were. There are 2 floors & we were on the 1st floor; note that the stairs are quite steep and there isn't a lift. Comfortable bedroom, modern bathroom, both with everything you would want. A real French feel to the rooms, not some character-less could be anywhere room.

In the main hotel there is a small reception area, a lovely main dining room + a smaller adjoining room & an outside courtyard/garden seating area. All are used for dining. The latter is lovely for a drink if you arrive in the afternoon & want to unwind after your journey.

The weather was good when we were there so on our 1st night we had pre-dinner drinks outside in the courtyard but opted to eat in the main dining room inside; on the 2nd night (Saturday) the restaurant was fully booked which meant that the outside tables + the smaller room next to the dining room, were fully booked for dinner, as well as the main dining room, so we thought that we would have to have our pre-dinner drinks @ our table in the dining room, but no: Madame said she would serve them in the small front garden of the house where our bedrooms were, where there are a couple of tables & chairs. This was good because on a lovely evening it is so nice to be able to have an aperitif sitting outside in the late evening sunshine! I mention this mainly to reflect how busy the restaurant can get especially @ weekend and I have no idea what they do when it rains!!

The restaurant is so busy because lots of "locals" go because the food is so good! All reviewers have commented on the food & that really is this hotel's crowning glory. The cooking is French to its core - but that is surely as it should be. Both Madame & her son are able to advise/explain any items on the menu if help is needed.

Breakfast - everything you could want for breakfast.

This is very much a family-run business - the patron runs the kitchen, Madame is in charge of the dining room & generally front of house and their son (with whom we had a bit of "banter", which adds to the enjoyment) was in the restaurant & around @ breakfast. All pleasant, efficient & helpful.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is in a very small village & you certainly wouldn't expect to find a hotel with this standard of restaurant/cooking in such a small place.

This Hostellerie should be on everybody's place to stay list. The decor in the reception rooms and bedrooms is absolutely charming and sooooo French! The food was wonderful. It should have a Michelin star! Our room was on the top floor of the main building and we had the most restful nights sleep. We left an item in the room when we left and this was posted back to us immediately. Thank you to everybody who looked after us so well.

Room Tip: Room 11 was lovely

We stayed overnight on our way back north in early June 2012 having chosen this hotel for its food and quiet location. It did not disapoint; the food was classic, but light french, with good flavour whilst the hotel room, in the main premises, was quiet and restful We will stay again.

Room Tip: It is probably worth paying for a larger room but having not stayed in the "annex" this is...

We had chosen the hotel because it was listed as a "relais du silence" and were surprised to find out it was in the centre of the small village of Sablençay! But it turned out it was absolutely quiet except for the church bell that rang at 8 in the morning.
The rooms are old-fashioned but the entirely refurbished bathrooms have everything you need.
Dinner was absolutely awesome and creative, the staff extremely pleasant. Breakfast was a treat and we enjoyed having the chef-owner come and serve us in the morning. We engaged in a long discussion on French cuisine and its evolution. An unforgettable experience.
