“Fantastic accomodation with super friendly owners”
Reviewed July 22, 2010

During our four-day trip through the vineyards of Bordeaux we stayed at Chateau Julie. This was a fantastic experience. Why is this so good:
1. The owners (Rinse and Renée) are super friendly;
2. The food is really good and not expensive at all; (30 euro's for three courses)
3. The prizes are really good considering the size of the rooms;
4. The environment is beautiful.

For those who like to visit both the Medoc and Saint-Emilion/ Pomerol region this is a perfect point to start your daily tours. I would suggest this accomodation to everyone!

Intrested in the Chateau Julie because our (grand)doughter's name is the same.
We rented the gite for 10 days, a cosy place fully equiped with a big kitchen and furniture 2 big bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
When we arrived the host welcomed us and offered 3 bottles of Chateau Julie 2002, very attent. We also were welcomed with a drink, in our case a can of coffee.
They really did all they could do to make our stay there comfortable, and we have nothing but gratitude and admiring for them.
We would like to thank them and wish them all the best, also give the kids a big hug.
Maybe we will come again! We sure will attent our friends on this place!

I can't say enough good things about our stay at Chateau Julie. We traveled there for a four-day weekend with our three month old son and my parents. Our room was ready with a crib and changing area for the baby. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They also served an amazing breakfast each morning.

While the property isn't very close to anything (like restaurants), it's an easy drive to get to things. It's also in the middle of the region, making day trips to other chateaus quite accessible.

Family room good and clean. Fantastic views of the vineyards. Less than half an hour's drive to Bordeaux. But what made this B & B truly exceptional was the hospitality. Jos gave us all a drink on the terrace on arrival, rang a local restaurant to book us in for dinner (knowing that it was a bank holiday and many places were closed). She suggested that we buy a picnic, saying that it was expensive to eat out two night's running, and then when we arrived back from market with the messiest dinner ever (paella, roast chicken, juicy tomatoes), she set out table outside with all the necessaries, all with a really relaxed, pleasant manner. Great for us and the children.

We found out about Chateau Julie through one of Alastair Sawday's excellent guides. We wanted a place to stay outside Bordeaux but where we could feel like we were in the Bordelais without the St. Emilion crowd.
Chateau Julie delighted us in every way. The proprietors are extremely welcoming and greeted us with a complimentary bottle of their own production (of which we later purchased several cartons...) Each room is decorated in the style of a country with which the owners do wine business; our room was called South Africa. Everything was spotless and we had use of a lovely sitting room and terrace overlooking the park and vineyards. The following morning breakfast was a real treat including much more than the usual French fare.
I look forward to returning one day to Chateau Julie and highly recommend it to others.
