“Beautiful food, friendly service”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

We stayed in Hautefort for a week and visited this restaurant twice. It was always busy so I would advice booking. On both occasions the owner was very helpful, recommended dishes and spoke English when my French failed. All of the staff were friendly and there is a good, lively atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed the fillet steak and I had a plate of different cooked meats which was delicious but too big for me. The scallops were also delicious.

I would highly recommend the restaurant for a high quality meal which is typical of the region.

“First time and not the last time”
Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

What an excellent restaurant! Hautefort is a nice village; the restaurant is every evening fully booked so reserve a table in advance. Service is quick and friendly. The menu offers great choice for big and small. Enjoyed the menu Bec Fin with beautiful spread of various Duck ingredients. The steak was excellent, tasty, juicy with wunderfull potato and veggies along the side.Tarte au noix was also perfect. Drank the pecharmant red wine which did well with the dutch & steak. Very critical when it comes to dining but staff, food and surroundings made it a great Experience. Please try for yourself.

“Good value”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

After eating at the neighbouring Auberge du Parc [50m away] the previous evening, we returned to Hautefort for the second time in two evenings. And this time, the result was more satisfying.

The menu offered numerous options, including 13 euros for a main course and a dessert. Bingo! That's my kind of offer!

The missus enjoyed her confit, though 25% of my 'entrecote' was inedible. The puddings were a success. The cheeses were both visible and varied and my 'gateau croquante' finished things off well. That said, its squirts of sickly 'Chantilly' cream were both unneccessary and remained untouched.

At 38 euros the two of us, inc 50cl of Bordeax red, it was a reasonable-to-good deal.

“Wonderful little place!”
Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

We had planned 2 go somewhere else on our final night in France but hadn't booked and it was full. We thought we would try this place as it had been recommended but we weren't hopeful we would get a table! As we were early we luckily got one of the last tables. What a lovely little restaurant! Our table was inside so we were able 2 c all the interesting food 4 sale on the shelves. Florence was lovely as was our English waitress and we easily selected our choices, an English menu was a gr8 help! The formulae menu's were very reasonable and not necessarily aimed at people with huge appetites. Five of us ate 2 courses with drinks and wine for around 70 euro's! We're only sad we discovered this place on our last night and truly delighted the other place was full!!!

“Good food”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

The food is a good variation of the local traditional fayre. The menu is a little confusing but Florence is friendly and will explain all, in English if required. Consistently good food which is becoming difficult to find in rural France.
