Le Chevrefeuille
Reviewed December 6, 2008

We were the last visitors to Le Chevrefeuille, in the third week of October 2008. Ian and Sara were trying to prepare for a holiday for themselves in Spain, but they gave us every attention to meet our needs. They are perfect hosts, and once we have scrounged together some money (given the world's current fiscal situation, and my ever-diminishing share holding value), we would stay there again...(only sans garcon)!!!
We visited many fascinating places in the area, most amazing were the caves with their prehistoric "paintings". The market at Saint-Cyprien was great, and visiting the various local chateaux was a highlight.
It was so refreshing to be able to take walks in the area knowing that a cosy gite was there to welcome and embrace us at the end of each walk. The history of the area is spellbinding!
The facilities offered by Le Chevrefeuille/Ian and Sara we found second to none compared to other places we have stayed at in two four-week trips to France(the first 3 years ago)..I sincerelu wish that we had found Le Chevrefeuille 3 years ago!
We wish Sara and Ian every success in their ongoing running of the hotel, and hope that custom flourishes in years to come...I can safely say, "I'll be back"!!

The place is just perfect for those with a small family, it's situated in a beautiful and fantasticly relaxing quiet surronding area. We stayed in one of the spaceous and comfortable gites that was very well fitted with everything that we needed, it even had its own little private terrace which was equipped with a barbeque. Sara and Ian were perfect hosts and have a great knowledge of the ammenities and the surronding area. Ian's cooking is just superb and real value for money. Eating in the beautiful covered court yard area made the nights that Ian cooked on a really pleasurable experience. We all enjoyed the holiday so much, we have already booked another 2 weeks in 2009 and are also bringing our friends.

We are a family of 5 and had the good fortune to stay at Le Chevrefeuille for 3 nights. We would have loved to extend our stay! The owners Sara and Ian are wonderful hosts and will bend over backwards to make your stay comfortable.
The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable, and the setting is absolutely lovely. Our 3 boys ages 11, 15 and 16 had a great time. There is plenty of outdoor space for playing and relaxing.
Ian is a great gourmet cook, and we voted our meal at Le Chevrefeuille as one of our best in France.
Location is great with easy access to all kinds of sights, and bikes are available for riding in the beautiful countryside. We do not have any hesitation recommending this B&B highly. We will no doubt make it our pick in the future!

We had a wonderful stay at Le Chevrefeuille. Sara's welcome on arrival was warm & friendly. We stayed 3 nights in the Breadroom - which was wonderful. We were fortunate enough to eat in one night & thoroughly enjoyed the great meal .

We have abslutely no hesitation in recommending Le Chevrefeuille as a base for touring & enjoying the Dordogne..

Great value for money.

We booked the Chevrefeuille for one night ahead of a longer Gite booking further south. Even though we (2 adults, two teenage boys and an 18month baby) only stayed the night we were made to feel very welcome. The family room fitted us all in, and it opens out onto the the courtyard so you can leave your baby in bed in complete safety whilst you eat. Food superb and loads of it so even ravenous boys were completely full up at dinner and breakfast. Veggie options were inventive and top notch. Very secure for kids to play and loads of toys and stuff for them to play with. Couldn't fault the place. Will definately go back.

We stayed at Le Chevrefeuille on our way back from touring France - and had just one night on our way to the ferry. How I wished we had booked a full week. We have stayed all over France for many, many years - but this place is quite honestly the best we have stayed in, and we wouldn't hesitate to return or to recommend it to any traveller.
Sara, Ian and her family were absolutely delightful - the bedrooms were beautifully decorated and incredibly spacious, and the breakfast was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, Sara even filled our flask of coffee for our homeward journey! We were greeted with a drink as soon as we arrived - which was gratefully accepted after a long, tiring journey - and it just got better from there! I believe Ian's culinary talents are incredible - and if breakfast was anything to go by - we would most certainly have booked dinner - but it was Ian's night off!

My husband says it was the best night's sleep he's had in years - not sure whether that was down to the red wine or the extra large comfy bed!

Le Chevrefeuille is most definitely on our list of "must visit again - sooner rather than later"

As a family we rented two of the gites for a fortnight. Two kids 12 & 14 plus grand-mere.
The gites are self contained with a patio & BBQ facing a large field where the kids played and made friends with the other children staying there.
Ian cooks a “blind” menu several nights a week which we never missed.
Plenty of things to do and see locally.
Ian and Sara really make you feel at home – nothing is too much trouble.
This was our second stay and we will defiantly go again.
