Attended a friend's 60th she lives down the street from the Port City - Totally intact Victorian home feels like a time warp with all the modern conveniences - meticulously kept up - I didn't want to leave it was peaceful and a great place to recharge your batteries - owners are lovely and accommodating - am already planning my next visit - breakfast was great too -Highly recommended

We stayed upstairs in a lovely room with a very quaint bathroom. Only 10 minutes to Musekgon beach and about the same to visit the submarine.
I loved the house and hearing the history of the area from Fred and normally I don't care about the breakfast part of a B and B. However at $200 a night (with tax) I was expecting something fulfilling. After being asked at check in and telling the host twice that I don't eat pork I was very disappointed to find breakfast was a fritata with ham in it and a side of pork patties. I found this awkward and was embarassed to walk into the kitchen to ask for something without pork in it. I felt like the ham could have been ommitted from the fritata without too much inconvenience.
Breakfast is at 9 which may be a litte late for people aiming for an early start.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and the embarrassment you experienced. We do not have many vegans or vegetarians guests that stay with us, but the dishes that were set at the table were meant to be passed (family style) and not particularly just for you alone. Your friend asked for oatmeal which was provided for her and scramble eggs were also given to you. It is hard when we serve 12 people at a time, that is why we serve family style and everything is passed...sometimes we all need a little reminder!

Please try us again if you are ever in this area, we aim to please all of our guests, not just the majority...

My wife and I spent our 1st anniversay at the Port City Victorian Inn and had a wonderful time with Barb and Fred. This was our second trip to the PCVI, our first being our Honeymoon last year; and our experience last year was so good we came back this year. Fred and Barb made us feel right at home from the time we first entered the door to the time we had to pack up and go home. The Alexander Rodger's suite was as wonderful as we remembered it last year, a nice soft bed to fall alseep on after a long day of running around in the hot sun, and AC to make sure we were comfortable all night long. When it cooled off in the envening, the back porch is the perfect place to sit and relax with a good book or some ice cream.

Fred and Barb also had some wonderful suggestions for local attractions and places to eat (the Hackley and Hume houses are beautiful, and the Hearthstone has delicious food!); if your looking for something to do or a place to eat at, pick thier brains for some great suggestions!

Speaking of food, the breakfasts each morning were mouth watering! Whether its quiche, english muffins, and sausage; or pancakes, eggs, and bacon; I couldn't get enough of the delicious food Barb makes. Each breakfast also came with coffee and orange juice, and was served on beautiful china in thier gorgeous dinning room.

I can't say enoiugh good things about PCVI and Fred and Barb; if you want to feel at home on your trip away, my wife and I recommend the PCVI fully.

All the rooms were very well decorated & so was the whole B&B. Very good taste; you'll love it if you love all that's old. The hosts even went to painstaking efforts to play their player piano. First time I got to enjoy that in my life. The area of Muskegon is very quaint with a nice paved path going near the water near far away; wonderful view of the lake from the B&B. The owner is a tremendous cook & they know how to hold a great conversation. Yes, best thing in Muskegon, although the nature reserve & North muskegon's older homes are a well kept secret. Almost missed them.

All the years that it took to collect and display our antiques was worth it to hear great people like yourselves say that you had a wonderful time and experience while staying at our Inn. Although the player piano has only been here for a couple of years, many of our guest seem to enjoy hearing the old tunes and some even play their own music, too!

We look forward to having you folks here again!

This was the best bed and breakfast we have stayed in. We were there in November for a wedding and Barb and Fred could not have been more gracious. The work they have done to restore the property is beautiful. We stayed in the Captain's Cabin and it was absolutely lovely. The food was delicious and there was stimulating breakfast conversation with other guests. I would highly recommend this destination. From what we could see, it is the best thing in Muskegon.
